Okay I was in my 2nd period class which is math, when I felt a tugging at my hair and then a click and then I smelt something burning and heat on the back of my back. The girl sitting behind me (one of my friends) lit my hair on fire. she did put it out but still. I laughed so I wouldn't cry. I asked her why she did that and she replied that she thought it was funny. When the bell rang I reported it to my guidence counslor. Was I overreacting? should I have kept it to myself? should I press charges against her?

When your friend jokeingly lights your hair on fire, you should just press charges right off the bat.

The right thing to do would have been to deliver a powerful back kick to her when she did it.

A joking back kick, of course.

If you honestly think she's trying to hurt you, then press charges, but I'm pretty sure she just has a really, really whacked sense of humor (that many people share). Just tell her to stop.

It'd piss a lot of people off though, I just think this is a sign of maybe getting new friends.

She thought you'd think it was funny, she was wrong, I don't think there needs to be serious punishment, however, she does need to know what she did was f****** insane.

She is jealous of you. That's not funny and you def didn't overreact. Actually if you kicked her ass right there I still wouldn't say you overreacted lol. What kind of psycho does that?

no I would have told a lot more then just the guidance counselor . she isn't supposed to have a lighter in school anways let alone lighting anyones hair on fire. she needs to be taught a lesson. before someone really gets hurt. turn her in to the right people so she can get reprimanded. good luck and I hope your hair is ok.

Don't press charges that's a little extreme but you were right in reporting it. That's ridiculous

That is just plain rude. Would she have liked it if the person behind her lit her hair on fire? I think not. You did the right thing, & helped to prevent it from happening again.

Your not over reacting, I think you did a good thing as you never know she might do it again and it clearly isn't funny, a guy did that to a girl in school and the back of her neck is scared now because of the jerk off.
