Well, you don't need to be cool for a girl to like you.

All you need to do is show her the real you. Start a convo with her, form a friendship. Find out what you guys have in common. If it shows you have a lot in common and she has grown on you or vice versa....then who knows maybe shell want to pursue a relationship with you.

First off, you want to start by building a friendship with her. You want to tell her you aren't a 'wanna be' cool person? Let her get to know you, the real you. Start by talking to her, if your kind of shy then just talk about everyday topics like school, news, or whats going on this weekend. You can always smile at her in the hallway until you start talking to her. Be yourself! You don't want a girl to love you because they think that your something your not.

If you like this girl but don't know her personally, you might think differently after you get to know her. Sure her looks may be good but if you can't connect with her personality then it's not going to work.

Overall, next time you see her, say hey or what's up. Try to avoid pickup lines, or flirty acts, what you can do is compliment her (not necessarily on looks but clothing,and if you want to go for looks then truthfully compliment her on what looks you like about her but don't be perverted about it.)
