Do people often mistake attitude, for personality?

Like Someone could be a complete A$$, but also have the most interesting personality... And... Someone could be outgoing and funny, but have absolutely no interests and an actual-horrible personality... Do other people notice this? What does everyone think? Or maybe it's, like, all in how you approach someone...

Update: Okay there is the "clown" end, but what about say Jennifer Aniston. Did her and Vince Vaughn break up because she had a miserable attitude (from previous divorce) or a bad personality? She seems to have a "good" personality. Is there a better example?    11 months ago

Come to think about it, I've actually thought about this question before, and I completely agree. Alot of people can be cool and outgoing on the outside but their personalities are like dirt. The shy people are the ones I find most interesting. Occasionally you'll find people who are really fun to hang out with and their attitude and personality are really good.

I think a lot of people do make this mistake because people often judge others on attitude. Most of my friends or people I know will base a person purely on attitude without really getting to know their personality. I can safely say there are only a few who actually think beyond the question and understand.

Yeah I wonder that sometimes... I notice I can have a very bitchy attitude if someone gets on my nerves and it lingers but in reality if you never piss me off I'm not like that lol.

Haha, I love this question.. even though I'm a little confused.

What your describing to me sound a lot like bs tolerance. I mean, a lot of people who seem really fun.. are actually complete tools, but no one notices because they have high bull shit tolerance.

If I'm getting this straight, it sounds like you have a low bullshit tolerance and are therefore finding that a lot of well-liked people really suck.

No, it's not just you.

It's just all about how you play the game.. isn't it always?

Personality is a collective amount of qualities attributed to someone where as attitude is a single feeling one feels towards another object or thing. Comparing the two is a little awkward I think but I get what you are implying.

Micheal Jackson has an interesting personality but doesn't mean he'll make a great friend or spouse. He's simply an entertainer not Mother Theresa.

Lindsey Lohan might be fun but when it counts, do people closest to her trust her?

These people are known as clowns.

Question Asker This is kind of like Biology; comparing Phenotype (physical, outside, what you see, DNA translation) to Genotype (genetic make-up; inside, DNA info). You could have a harmless mutation that isn't expressed, and mistake it's phenotype because it looks normal. - 11 months ago
Question Asker Like your personality is what makes you- you. And your mood/ attitude is how you carry yourself on a certain day. Like seeing someone in a bad mood and assuming they're just miserable all the time ... something like that. - 11 months ago
