Ok so I've known this guy for I dunno, a month and half maybe a little more, and ever since we talk every single day (with some minor exceptions) and he is always telling me we should go out for coffee or something, like for example, the minute I log on to my IM he's like coffee coffee!! When are we going for it? So I respond that whenever he wants to I'm good to go, so he suggests a date I suggest a place and all is well, the day of the "date" I get a text from him telling me he can't go for this or that reason, so the next day we plan it all over again and so on it goes.
I know every time he tells me we should go out that I can make other plans because by now I know he won't go. But then, why would he keep asking me to it if I don't even tell him to go out or anything. And he keeps sending me kisses and sweet talking and what not. Now the flirting is fun don't get me wrong, although I'm not entirely sure if I like this guy as something more than a friend because it's been so long since we saw each other.
I'm not fixated with him, if something better shows up then by all means, but I just want to know what is up with him, why does he keep asking me out if he's not planning to go? Do any of you guys do that? If so, why?
My only guess is that he's getting cold feet. If he's shy, he could be calling off the dates due to nervousness--sort of like avoiding confrontation. It's strange that he keeps planning them, though. You should point out that he's made x number of dates and hasn't shown up for any of them. Either he needs to work up the courage to go or just give up.
