I met this guy at my church about five months ago and we immediately started becoming really close. I don't see him super often, like 2-3 times a week and then also for special church events because we go to separate high schools, but we usually talk every day.
Anyways, I've always been attracted to him and we've gradually become best friends. About the time we started getting especially close is when I started really falling for him. And he started falling for me. Perfect, yeah? No. The thing is, he's still kind of hung up on this girl he liked for a few months before I came along. Things were moving sort of fast between the two of us which didn't seem right because he still has feelings for her so I told him we shouldn't talk for a few days while I figure things out. So we haven't talked for about a week and a half until today.
Today I basically let him know that I'll always be his friend, but if he wants to be anything more than that, then he needs to get his priorities straight and do things at his own pace, but it's all up to him to pursue me. I really like him, but I want to give him space, and I know things are really hard for him with this other girl (even though he admitted to a mutual friend of ours that he's getting over her and he's really into me), but I want to be the ONLY one. That's how it should be, right?
So all I want to know is how I should act and what I should do during these next few months of best friend's mom. Is asking about her off-limits? Should I not even talk about "us" or flirt with him at all? I just want to be there for him right now and help him through this and support whatever decisions he makes, but I don't know how to go about it and what is okay and what is not okay and what will turn him off or. I don't know. Please help me.
I'd like advice mostly from teenage-ish guys (16-20? ) I've already gotten enough from other girls and I really could use a dude's perspective.
