Well since she was my first for a lot of things it took me a long time to get over her because I had such a strong connection to her and it hurt me a lot when we broke up. I think it depends on how experienced you are and what type of personality you have. Also the attitude you have towards relationships plays a factor. Took me a couple months to completely get over the whole thing, but I am a better person from it all in the end.

Well for me it's been 7 months that I was left from a 9 year relationship and I don't think I have even began to deal with it appropriately let alone be over it...there were some circumstances that have drawn this out I'm sure, but I honestly don't even think I have tried to let myself heal...I don't even know where to begin...I have ruined a big part of my life over this break up and you would think by that alone it would be enough for me to start letting go but I haven't...the thing is I am smart enough to know what I need and should be doing to start the healing process but something in me won't let it happen...I don't know if it is the fear of letting it go because then it really is final or what the deal is...but anyway I always try to think of it this way- even with taking 1 step forward and 10 steps backwards I will still eventually get where I am going...it's just going to take a hell of a long time...

my first ex- it took about a year and half---(but I hated him more ---i really wanted him to regret making that choice) So I honestly didn't know if I loved him more or hated him because he really didn't give me any closure ...until a year or two ago..

My second ex--I'm still trying to get over him--he wasn't a jerk---i really really liked him---and I haven't like anyone for a long time.

It took almost six months. I'd really lost myself when we were together. Instead of being "Sarah" with Chris, I became "Sarah, Chris's girlfriend" and then eventually just "Chris's girlfriend" because that's what everyone saw me as. "Sarah" became invisible to them and I lost her. So I had to get that all back once we broke up.

Its been just over 7 months and I still find myself struggling to deal with it on times, time is a great healer though. I was with him for 8 years so I'm assuming its cause of that.
When you think you are okay you find out or something about them and its another blow!
eg. He has found another women, he has moved in with her, their getting married.
One day you think your okay and then bang something new to upset you.
What I'm trying to say is that you are going to have to go through the motions, but one day there will be nothing else to hear about them cause you would have heard it all!

it's been 2.5 months and I'm still in the process of getting over it. my ex was two timing me with some chick at his work (they are still together and happy). clearly he was unaffected because he had moved on BEFORE we broke up. but now I have to see him everyday in class. it makes me sick. we were only together a couple months but the feelings (at least on my side) were real and deep.
