OK well me and my ex have been over for about 4 months but its a long story and I only stopped contact 2 weeks ago, then Saturday he added me back on msn (after deleting me) and we talked for a couple of hours just friendly chit chat. I've realized I can't do it as I've been in tears for a day! I would like your opinion as to whether this is kind enough to send him but also to the point? "I’m sorry hun but I can’t be friends with you. If you wanted to be more than friends I’d say yes, I’ll always wanna be more and if you can’t deal with that that’s fine. But we were never friends before or after. You seem happy with your girlfriend.And maybe we could talk now and again one day but being friends just isn’t fair on me, I really do wish I could be.I’m glad you added me on msn, it was nice to talk and scarily easy and I guess that’s part of the problem, I’m just not ready to be friends, two weeks wasn’t enough time for me, I'm sorry." any input would be appreciated or anything I could add. I don't want to be nasty about it.

The note is perfect, but here's the only problem(s) I see: - "You seem happy with your girlfriend" <-- he has a girlfriend - "my ex" <-- you used to date him - "just friendly chit chat" <-- He still talks with you
The guy sounds like a great guy, but I have a feeling that this girl is going to assume your "making a move" on him. She will get p*ssed off and jealous. This guy sounds kind of shy and sincere (like he wants to keep a friendship after the relationship failed). I just really think that she will cause some problems, so be careful to not go "over-board" on feelings
ok so yes it's going to be hard but four months probably wasn't long enough for you to get over him send him the message and try your hardest to leave him alone and get on with your life (btw I read the story it is very long but isn't every relationship break up)
honestly...that is perfect. I think its great too that you came to that realization. Its hard to cut the ties but in the long run you are going to be much happier that you did.
