My boyfriend/fiance of 8 months recently broke up with me over me asking him to pay a power bill. Why?

He has been living with me for 7 mos or so, I've known him for 20 yrs, we went to school together, dated in the past, met up again last year and started dating. We got engaged, moved in together. He has a drinking problem, but he had totally stopped drinking for 95 days. Then, all of a sudden when I asked him to help me pay a large elec bill, he flipped out. Told me he was sick of me and living with me and he was out of here. I am so perplexed by his behavior. I know there wasn't anyone else, but I think maybe he created a big drama over something small to run off so he could drink again. I don't know. Any opinions?

Well, it was probably because he hadn't had anything to drink for so long, generally when a person just stops drinking the littlest things will set them off, so that's probably the reason
