How long did it take to get over your first love?

Its hard to really judge how long you will take. How deep you were in the relationship and how well you two were connected at the best time really can make it harder. Don't try to believe that by setting a time for you to get over him it will happen on that day. It may take longer or shorter depending on how well you're progression personally. Just try to better yourself personally and keep positive. Hang out with true friends and keep yourself preoccupied on your own life. When you think about him think about the bad things of him...try not to dwell on the good ones just cause it will make it harder for you. I read on here somewhere that normally its 3 months per year together...but in all honesty its all up to you and how you can deal with it.

It took me the better part or 6 months to get over her. Even then there were still the odd feelings that came up from time to time that made me seriously miss her. Even if she did cheat on me a few million times (hyperbole) and totally break my heart. Somehow I still found myself missing her. I guess it's more that I missed how we used to be such good friends too, and that maybe I didn't wanna throw away a friendship but seriously it was already tainted. The whole thing turned toxic. It had to end.

Anyway so for me I got over her in about 6-9 months. Personally.

Sucks I know

i was with my only boyfriend for 5yrs and it took me 3yrs to get over the fact that we weren't together anymore.

argh the first love I'm exactly in your same position at this moment it sucks =[ I think about him every day there has not been a day since we broke up that he has not came into my head but I can say it has got better and even though I still don't think there's neone else 4 him but me I'm trying too but as you I have hope everyday tht we will get back together and il keep hoping he was everything to me and still is

We were together for about a year but knew each other since we were pre-schoolers. It took me a year to get over him maybe a little more.
