well for scenario one, its hard to get past not having any physical attraction, I have to find the person I am in a relationship with attractive before anything can happen
as for scenario two, sometimes it takes people time to find themselves, it took me about 5 years after I finished high school to finally figure out my path in life. Although you want someone who can support a family and be a good parent as well. I'm leaning towards scenario 2 with a long hard talk because if the attraction isn't there then it's just not going to work.
