If you have been dating a guy for a long while (longer than one year) and he says "If you were ever to get married, you would be my mistress."

How would or should that comment be taken?

Haha I had my girlfriend say exactly the same thing to me. It def just means they would love to have you in their life even if you married someone else. Personally not the most romantic thing I've ever heard, but she's french. I guess she was born to be a mistress. Lol

It means he could never see himself committing to you, he just wants you for sex.

Question Asker That could be true, yes.
OR, could he have been complimenting the woman on her sexual skills? - 7 months ago

I think he was trying to tell you that he would always want you in his life, even if you married someone else. Kind of a strange way to say it, though!

Question Asker I agree. However, if I did marry again, to someone else, I would not be in his life that much. I'm a one guy woman when in a relationship. - 7 months ago

I took it as, he likes me enough to sleep with me, but not marry me. I would be insulted if I were you, but that's me.

What were you guys talking about that led up to this conversation? Need more info to go off of.

Question Asker I totally forgot the conversation I was listening to. But it was a bunch of guys talking crap in the kitchen and I was reeled in on it. I'm not easily offended but I hear what you are saying. I would say, it would be his loss if all he wanted was a mistress. - 7 months ago
