I have the very similar problem. I was very insecure about my looks when I was young, only because not that many girls told me that I was cute (I get it a lot now). It's confidence that gets the date though. I've come to realize looks can only get you so far. I've actually lost interest in many great looking girls because they don't have much of a personality. Just put yourself out their more, highlight your attributes (just be more presentable), and you will get some male attention. It's always good to single out a guy you particularly like. Talk and flirt with that special somebody more and he'll get the big picture.

I know everyone will hate my answer but I'm just being honest.

The reason you can't get a boyfriend is because your "plus sized". Sorry, most guys are all about looks and physical attraction always comes first when you want someone. Try shedding a few pounds and you'll see results because you said people think your pretty, so by that they mean your face now all you need is to compliment that with a decent figure and you'll be all set for boyfriend world. Well hi sweet I'm not sure where ur from but I'm from Australia and I have to tell you that your question reminds me of my school years although not that long ago.
i am a big girl I'm not fat but I'm big in hight and stature. If guys are telling you these things and you don't believe them then you need to remember that guys are so simple (something I've learned since I left school) if they say something they most likely mean it and if your friends are true friends then you have to trust what they say. Being a big girl like us is not easy but you can use it to your advantage like I do.
i now have guys telling me I'm sexy and it took me a long time before I had the guts to ask one why they think I am sexy being as big as I am
the guy just laughed and told me that big is most definitely beautiful

you see now I believe what people tell me my attitude has changed about me and I no longer worry if I'm as skinny or as pretty or as sexy as any other woman you have to hold your head high and be confident in who you are and when you learn that the boys will start saying things like your cool and sexy and fun and then asking you out on dates

Your desperate, and self conscious and it shows. That's all. Plus I was told once, that guys go out with all the slutty girls first because they are too scared to ask out the nice/pretty ones. Its just the way life goes. You never ask the teacher to edit you paper first, you always ask the kid who is only okay because then all of the most obvious mistakes are gone, then you ask the teacher. This is the "Not until I am better" mindset

Baby girl, slightly plus size means very little the avg. Woman is 5;4 and weighs 165 that's for an avg 21 y. O woman. Your confidence is what brings men to you. You disagreeing when they say you're pretty is a complete turn off. Look at yourself every morning and tell yourself that you're pretty and believe it. They're out there but they're probably just as shy as you.
