It depends how far apart the person lives. If it is far, I don't think it will work. If it is hours away and there is no problem hanging out or going on dates then sure!

I say if a person lives far it won't work because people have physical needs. When they are sad and need someone to hug or cuddle with, talking online won't solve that much.

Sometimes people will find other physical needs to fulfill them even though they have an online relationship. It's very hard.

If you are attractive woman looking for sex, the net works very well. If just for dating, well, you still will gain lots of looks just like being in the open. Only difference is men can approach you on the net and not get sued for harassment. Serious. It's probably the biggest reason why men use the net to find dates.

If one is an average man looking for anything. Waste of time. The one exception will be foreign women looking for US citizenship, must be careful of those who will do this to a man.

I have wasted much time and money on those dating sites, both the dating and the swingers sites with almost no success whatsoever. Even Yahoo personals doesn't work for the majority of men who are not a woman's "type". But you should be fine. Just don't try to hook up with a person too far away, say over 500 miles or so unless you have a traveling job or a trucker.

I am in a successful relationship right now. He and I have been together for just over a year but have known each other for well over two years now. He and I live several states away and don't get to see each other in person very often, but we talk all the time ( we are like high school kids all over again) . I believe that friendship and communication are the most important things in any relationship regardless of distance. It is possible, just depends on how much faith and trust the couple has in each other.

Yeah, I know two couples who got married after meeting online. It definitely can work. It didn't work for me when I tried it, but then I never met anyone worthwhile in a bar either.
