I really like this guy and he likes me back but my parents don't want me to go out with him because he's slept with 3-5 girls and I'm not sexually active. What should I do to get my parents to maybe let me date him, he knows where I stand on the issue so there's no problem there. If it matters, I'm 17 and he's almost 18.

I don't think there is much you are going to do to change your parents mind. And they are probably right in a way. If he has enough of a rep that your parents know and you are not into sex. It seems like a mismatch. If he is used to sex and you are not there will always be tension in your relationship until you give in whether he pressures you or not.

What are you two going to do when you're alone? Make out and talk until you graduate? Maybe that's ok for you but this is a guy that's already slept with half a dozen girls. It won't end well despite what you think. At the end of the day its NOT the end of the world. There will be other people. I'm not trying to be a jerk, maybe I'm wrong and he's in love with you. Just trying to give a guys perspective.

Your parents may seem old and strict, but I bet they remember being your age way more vividly and feel it was way more recent than from your perspective. Its been over 10 years since I was in high school but it feels like yesterday. And I haven't forgotten what it was like one bit. And relationships don't really change in one generation. Maybe they didn't have ipods and computers and cell phones, but they know what they are talking about. They lived it. They were just as wild and mischievous and saw what went on. People had sex, and partied, and drank, and experimented. They are just trying to save you learning the hard way. And they care.

I am in the same position your in, my boyfriends is like that eccept he had sex a lot with one girl, my parents got scared about the way his parents act and say that it raises red flags and all, I'm in love with him though and its my choice who I go out with but they ended up calling his dad and telling him that we weren't allowed to date anymore cause they didn't want it! I was so upset and we were broken up for a good four months, when school started back up we were still talking and all and when he stopped talking to me I finally couldn't take it anymore and asked him back out. well enough about me, anyways I am dating my boyfriend behind my parents backs and I know its bad but I just can't trust them anymore! so I am going to wait until I am 18 to tell them I am in love with him and by then I will be an adult so they won't be able to do anything about it!

IF you really like him wait until you turn 18 that way your parents won't tell anything you'll be old enough to make the right choices. Just that both of y'all must have an agreement with all of this. Or you can just tell them step-by-step. My friend was in the same position you are right now.
