Okay so I really like this guy and I want to ask him out. I want to ask if he wants to go see a movie. Do I choose the movie and time and basically say "I really like you and I was wondering if you wanted to go see blank movie at blank time on blank day" or do I just say "I really like you and I was wondering if you wanted to go see a movie" ? I just don't know if I should include the movie name, day, and time when I ask him out. I've never really asked a guy out so I don't know. I probably should ask him in person right?

ask him the next time you're around him.you'll be amazed how much your nerves will subside after you ask, then put the ball in his court in terms of picking location/time/etc. the two of you can decide on the movie.

Yeah ask a guy in person.
Most guys absolutely hate it if girls ask over sms or msn, etc.

I've just read Evilsheepempire's answer and its perfect. =P

make up a situation.like this

"hey ____, so I bought this extra movie ticket thinking that my friend _____was going with me, but now her mom won't let her, so I thought that it would be fun if you and I went to go see "____(movie name)".

To answer some of your other questions.

If the guy is thick, he will completely overlook the fact that a girl is asking him out, and will immediately base his answer simply on the particular movie that you wanted to see with him. If this describes your man, than you will want to pick an action/adventure movie.

If the guy is rich in the knowledge of the language of "girl". then he will immediately notice that you've just asked him out, and if he wants to spend any time with you, will say "yes" to any movie that you suggest in going to see.

Good luck

Question Asker Wouldn't it seem weird to use that situation because this guy I want to ask, I know him but were not really friends. He's in like 4 of my classes and I think he may like me back. And what do you mean by "thick" ? - 6 months ago
Answerer Have you ever had a conversation with this guy? you're not really friends? how do you even know that you like him? too many variables now.

A "Thick" person, is someone who has to have things explained to them, for instance...If I gave you a present for your birthday for two movie vouchers, and we were dating at the time...I would expect you to take me to the movies. But a "thick" person would take their best friend, unknowing of the gifts true intentions. - 6 months ago
Question Asker Yeah I've talked to him quite a few times but were not really friends. He makes eye contact with me a lot and he smiles at me and stuff. I know I like him though. You can like a person without being their friend. He's not thick. When I send him a "signal" that I like him, he responds and he can definitely tell what I'm trying to convey. - 6 months ago
Answerer Than yeah, you should actually be upfront and just say "hey, want to go to a movie with me this weekend"? and if he says that he can't, than say "that's okay, maybe I'll catch you later this week".

If he responds to your signals, then go for it. this guy is waiting for an opportunity like this. - 6 months ago
Question Asker I just have one more thing. he tends to send mixed signals. like hell make a lot of eye contact and smile at me one day and then he won't for the next few days and then he will make eye contact again. Other days he avoids my gaze and turns away really fast when I look at him. What do you think this means. Could he actually not like me or do you think he's just nervous? - 6 months ago
Answerer He's just nervous and afraid that he might be reading into your signals too much. He wants to play casual in case that you don't return his affection. He is not sure if you feel the same way the he does. He likes you. - 6 months ago

just say you want to go see a movie. and let him decide what he wants to see. boys don't like it when girls are too controlling. then you can say what day you want to go. if you have a second date to the movies, you can say what you want to see :)

Definitely ask him in person, if you don't it'll seem like your not really interested. Ask him if he maybe wants to see a movie sometime. You could pick out a movie and time beforehand but don't mention it. Until he answers you first. You could even change up the plans, see if he wants to hang out at the mall, park or something, that way you can actually get to know each other. A movie isn't one of the best first dates because you can't talk through out it or anything.
I know my boyfriend and I regret going to a movie on our first date, We still joke around about it though, because it was really awkward for us :)
