Promise Rings. Do they really mean anything?

U can think of it in 2 ways:

1
It will make you feel good seeing you both wear the promise rings. Also showing other people that the person is "taken".

2
Think of them as 2 normal rings

Personally I'd go for the first. I would give my girl a promise ring when we both confessed our love for each other. And with the rings you can make the promise to stay loyal to each other.

Of course you can also do that without rings. But it's the gesture that counts ?

A promise ring symbolizes a promise or commitment between two people. Promise rings can be given for almost any type of promise made and need not be limited to promises made for engagement or weddings. Having said this, the reason for giving or accepting a promise ring should be well understood by both people. It avoids the misunderstanding by either person as to the true intention for giving or receiving a promise ring. This could alter the entire significance or meaning of the promise ring, that is to promise yourself to the other person.
Getting married- "I promise to stay with you, and never cheat on you" etc.

I don't really know which side I'm on with a promise ring my boyfriend of two years finally gave me a promise ring about a year and a half into it but yet he made me choose between him and my family so a promise ring can be for a hope and promise of tomorrow but be sure that who you want to spend tomorrow with granted to say we broke up 5 months later

I feel that when two people have a promise ring,
whenever they look at it, it just symbolizes their true love for each other.
I can't guarantee that it will last forever, but it helps remind them.
