We've been friends for ten years, we both don't date really. I compare many of the potential guys to him or even wonder how he would feel about them.

well you should sit down and talk to him about it firs, but if he doesn't feel any feelings for you just keep it at a friendship level because you wouldn't want to ruin that

Why not? If you are friends, then you already have a level of intimacy. Just see where it goes.

Good luck!

well with me. I have this friend right he's a guy friend just like yours like we have been friends for like 7 years maybe more I don't know. and like I use to have like the BIGGEST crush on him and I liked him A LOT trust me. there wouldn't be a problem with it its just if you think about it if he really got attached or you really got attached think about how that could ruin your friendship but who knows maybe it could be different and you guys fall in love and maybe even get married( : who really knows ! my advice is if you really like him tell him he could really like you back!

It seems like you definitely respect his ideas and want his approval. But this can go both ways - a relationship as a girlfriend/boyfriend or nothing at all. Are you 100% sure that your feelings towards him are valid in a girlfriend/boyfriend way? I mean by saying "we both don't date really", it appeals to me as if he is your last resort. And are you sure that his feelings towards you are more than friendly? You don't want to ruin your friendship with him after 10 years. Be completely sure before you make your move! Both your feelings, and his.
