I moved to a small town (less than 3,000 people) for my job, and then found myself suddenly single here. I have a few friends here but not a giant social circle.
Here's the town: it is a resource town (mostly logging), it has one bar, a couple of stores, and I can't find any type of club or class or activity to join where I could meet people.
The other problem is that it's a 3 hour drive to the nearest town over a mountain range!
I'm a city-boy and I'm going a bit out of my mind, but my job pays well and offers great career advancement in the future.
I'm cultured and educated and friendly and I dress well and I have a great job and a car, yet I can't seem to meet anyone here!
Does anyone have any suggestions, aside from quitting my job and moving, as to what there is to do to meet people (particularly women) in a town like this?
I grew up in a small town, 2 high schools, everybody knew everybody. Honestly, all you gotta do is put yourself out there. These girls are probably DYING to meet somebody new. At least that's how my friends and I were. Just go to that bar on the weekend, make small talk with your cashier, meet your neighbors. They're probably just shy, but once they realize you're a great guy they'll be all over you. Trust me, you are fresh meat there.
Are you at all close to a bigger city or town? Maybe where a college is or something? Because this sounds like the kind of place that single women would leave as soon as they got the chance.
with 1 bar in your town I don't see it happening anytime soon god and I thought were I live was small, seriously if your unhappy does your job really mean more to you than having somoene to enjoy life with?id rather have fun in life with people than be stuck in a small town with 1bar ! what's the point in having money if there's nothing fun to do with it were you live
Your social options are limited there, but small towns usually have other small towns nearby. Why not try a couple of personals websites like yahoo or match? It couldn't hurt.
