i'm overweight, and people have always told me that plenty of guys like bigger women, but if this is true I've certainly never met any of them. I've got a hormonal disorder that basically makes it nearly impossible for me to lose weight, and I am beginning to consider surgery to correct what SHOULDN'T be a huge deal. it;s not like I crush my partners with my massive bulk or anything like that! before I commit to a life-altering and expensive surgery, I just want to know if it's worth it. are there really guys out there who like their women with a little bit of a belly? guys, what is your limit on how big a girl can be and still be attractive to you?
I've been attracted to a lot of women who are bigger. I don't have a strict limit exactly. Primarily the key issue for me is that she's healthy. This goes both ways. If she's overly skinny or overly heavy than there's a problem. I'll also point out for what difference it makes, but to comment on the previous post, I'm finishing of my Master's degree in engineering, have a job offer waiting for me, and have a pretty good grasp on things in my life. Though as for my appearance I'm pretty average. However, I would say that there's no deciding factor in what guy will like what type of woman. It's generally not something a guy fully has control over. Can I fully explain why I like the women I like? Nope, not really. Lots of guys like all different types of women. You just have to get past all the guys who are only into the stereotypical image projected by the media. Guys are out there, you just have to keep looking. Sometimes you might have to look past the guys in the front that are all flashy and look to the guys who are more quiet and shy as well.
The type of male you might be dreaming of: the smart guy, who is confident, from a good family, good looking, and generally has his shit together (good job, bright future, etc) ; will likely not be interested in you.
However, there are lots of guys who are willing to date an overweight girl. If the surgery has no health side effects and you can afford it, I'd go for it.
What is your basis for saying that that kind of guy wouldn;t be interested in me because I'm a little chubby? I mean, that's fine and I'm not disagreeing with you, I just want to know why. - 2 months ago

Because that guy can have whoever he wants. He doesn't have to date a fat girl if he doesn't want to. In short, he's got a lot of options. The guy who isn't quite as good looking, smart, and lacks shittogetherness will have fewer options thus he may have to accept an overweight girl. It's just like the economy. There is a limited supply of men like that and a limited supply of attractive women...thus we all compete with one another for the best mate. - 2 months ago
Have dated overweight women, no big deal. My rule of thumb is that I date up to my bodyweight.
SERIOUSLY CONSIDER the consequences of surgery. If your weight isn't physically debilitating, I wouldn't risk it; a lot can go wrong, none of it reversible.
Besides, it's easier to change your partner than to change your body.
I would date an overweight woman. As for my limit I'm not sure. It would depend on how tall she is and does she have any problems getting around (I like to walk a lot).
Lol, yeah, that's understandable. I am fairly athletic, so no problems there. I think I just mainly have trouble with the kind of people who go "oh no! you have an ounce of fat right there! that's so ugly!" - 2 months ago

You know people who can spot an ounce of fat? Either you hang around really vain people or marine snipers. :) - 2 months ago
My pal likes big girls, his current girlfriend is and most of his past ones are too.
Don't get confused that being attractive is just about your size, ask most guys about dawn French or Fern Britton and they will say they're sexy women. More important is the way you dress, you way you look after yourself and your attitude.
Putting this bluntly, fat people have a stereotype in that they're lazy and stuff themselves with masses of food and you need to do whatever you can to distance yourself from this. Look your best, dress classy, get the right attitude and DO something about your weight because nearly impossible does not mean impossible!
If you eat only the right healthy food and did lots of exercise it IS impossible for you NOT to lose weight, your attitude to your weight is the biggest problem you need to overcome it and surgery is just taking the easy way out.
My comments are probably going to upset some people but I think to most guys it wouldn't matter if your a larger lady, it WOULD matter what your doing about it.
I'm not upset by your comments, I appreciate them. my goal was to find out what people thought about it, not to stroke my ego and hear "aww, you're pretty, don't give up!" etc. but you're right. sometimes I just need the reminder that "nearly impossible does not mean impossible." - 2 months ago
A fast and easy method to determine calorie needs is to use total current body weight times a multiplier.
Fat loss = 12 - 13 calories per lb. of bodyweight Maintenance (TDEE) = 15 - 16 calories per lb. of bodyweight Weight gain: = 18 - 19 calories per lb. of bodyweight
This site below will help you calculate how many calories you burn daily, just by doing normal, every day things. If you burn 1900 cals a day (i.e.), and you cut back to eating 1500 cals a day, you are losing 2800 cals a week. Catch my drift? Just make sure oyu eat the minimun number of cals alloted a day as per your height and weight. That's how you lose water weight instead of actual fat, or worse off, muscle mass.
Hmm. thanks for the info, I will definitely check this out. as for low-carb diets, though, I may have to do that even though you suggest not to- my doc says my main problem is I'm not digesting carbs right or something. but you've definitely been a huge help, thanks a ton. - 2 months ago

Glad to be of service :) If I can help further with infor, let me know :) Keep me posted! And on a side note, in reference to your original posting...I don't think weight matters with guys. I'm 5'5 and 118 lbs. and I can't land a man. Weight just isn't an issue, in my opinion.
Here that, single guys? I"M SINGLE!!! lol. - 2 months ago
Please only have surgery if a doctor says your weight is impairing your health.and then get a second opinion. My mother's friend had the gastric bypass surgery and it almost killed her; she got a staff infection and blood clots in her legs. She lost most her hair and looked awful. A friend of mine had the lap band surgery and loss massive amounts of weight, feels great and looks great, too. You look like a lovely young woman, and I can sympathize with you. My best friend is overweight due to a disorder with her thyroid (spelled right? wrong?) And I feel awfully for her because of it. However, she is happy with herself, and is waiting for a guy to appreciate her for who she is. Never have an operation to attract the affections of someone. Only do it for you. You will meet someone, I guarantee it. I am a believer in fate and everyone having someone for them. Have you tried joining a gym? Screw losing weight.turn it into muscle. Eat healthy.find out your Body Mass Index and calculate how many calories a day you burn versus how many you need to maintain proper nutrition and nourishment. Every pound is equal to 3500 calories.so if you cut 3500 cals a week (cut back 500 cals a day), that's a pound a week. I know you said you have a hormonal disorder, but I was wondering if you tried this at all. I am a perpetual dieter and could give you tips for exercise and what not.just don't go overboard.
On a personal note? F**k people who can't appreciate you for you. Honestly. You deserve the best.
Yeah, I've tried everything from crash diets to long term goals with a personal trainer, but thanks for the tips, I didn;t know the 3500 calories to a pound thing. I'll try that. - 2 months ago

Crash diets are actually making it worse for you to lose weight; what happens is we tend to lose what seems like a lot of weight within the first week or two, especially if we go on a carb--free diet (never do this). What happens is we are actually losing water weight; out bodies store carbohydrates, and as soon as it replenishes itself you will put the water weight right back on. Plus, it messes with ur metabolism, making weight loss harder. Trust me! Google how to find your BMR. - 2 months ago
