As guys, do you prefer to bring up exclusivity? Would it freak you out if a girl did?

Have you ever called a girl your girlfriend, without discussing it? Do you think the discussion is necessary before using titles?

I'd prefer that it gets talked about, so that we know what we are looking for in a relationship. Whichever one of us brings it up is fine.

For titles, I think we know when it's safe to use it, without really talking about it.

I don't mind talking about relationship terms with my girlfriend. I find the need to discuss it at least weekly, sometimes daily. As for other guys, I think when their girlfriend brings up the "We need to talk about us" thing, I've seen most guys freak out. Not because of the topic but because they thought it was simple as asking someone out instead of having a whole talk based on it.

I think it is necessary to have a discussion before you claim someone as your boyfriend/girlfriend because you have to know how the other person feels about it, and make sure your both coming to terms on the same page. I mean how weird would it be if you just randomly called someone yours(or vice versa) before actually knowing how they really felt about it.
