OK so first I will give you some background... So last year I really thought this guy liked me because he always smiled at me and held eye contact for long periods of time. So then at the end of the year I figured he was just shy, so I asked him out and he said no because he barely knew me. It was somewhat true. I mean we didn't talk a lot but the whole point of going out with someone is to get to know them... I think he at least liked me at some point because I can't see how a guy would do those things without being interested in the girl. So then I asked him why he was holding eye contact if he wasn't interested and he said that it was just polite. OK this guy is not stupid. He is amazingly smart and he plays football and he's pretty popular so I don't know how he could actually say it was just polite.
So now this year at first things were awkward and tense, but now they are pretty much normal and he treats me like any other girl and he is nice to me. But now I am totally starting to like him again. Everytime I look at him when we are talking I seriously feel like I could drown in his eyes however corny that sounds. He has the prettiest dark brown eyes and an amazing smile and when I talk to him I try so hard not to smile because if I do, he's going to know that I like him again. I have gotten pretty good at hiding my feelings from him though. So should I try to get to know him or would he see right through that? Should I leave him alone and give up? Should I try to just be his friend? I mean I do occassionally talk to him in class.
If he wanted to ask you out, he would have done it by now. Also, the point of going on a date is to get to know someone. People go on blind dates all the time, when they've never even met the person before. It sounds like he was just being nice last year when he turned you down.
