No, you like you like and you can't help that. What I would do is ask him casually. Be like, so are going to the dance with anyone. And if he says no, say well maybe we should go together. Or you could ask your friend to ask him, since its her little brother. Find out if he likes you first from her.

I'm an outdoors man and so it's important to me that my gal enjoy that too. The ideal date for me is to go on a hike in the mountains and then enjoy a romantic lunch with some cool wine.
I would dress for the hike.
