I think you need to make sure its not a classic case of 'you want what you can't have' here.
If he's with his ex still then obviously leave him be-you don't want to come off as jealous. An ex of mine (before getting with me) had broken up then got back with his girlfriend again, and when he got back with her some how, I just knew it wouldn't work out, and eventually we ended up together. I acted on gut feeling by just carrying on as normal. It worked for me :)
