Why do guys ignore the girl that they like. One minute I catch this guy staring at me and then the next he doesn't even look my way but then I catch his friends staring. What is up with that. Are guys that schizophrenic? LOL.
Most likely is that the guy must have a crush on you but he's very shy in a way to approach and some other reasons that is holding the man's heart down.
Well I would say he doesn't want to look overly obsessed about you he wants you to return the favor by staring at him back. I recently have tried something similar to this so it could be quite possible. Good luck figuring him out.

I would try to talk to him alone because with friends around he might be pressured one way or the other. You might just want to ask him what he thinks of you and go from there. Maybe get a date together depending on his answer. - 7 months ago
There could be many reasons. But popular culture often portrays guys that let on that they like girls a lot in a negative light. I've often seen tv shows and movies portray girls that cease to like a guy once they start showing interest in them. Not the definitive answer, but a possibility.
One more thing, only ignorant girls stop liking a guy once he shows interest. Granted, girls like a challenge but we love it when a guy we like starts showing us attention. It's too hard to read your minds any other way! LOL. - 7 months ago
I think there are two reasons. One is that we don't want to end up looking like a clueless loser because we stare for too long. To avoid that awkwardness, we must look away (and have our buddies keep on eye on you).
The second is that we want to check to see if you're looking before we make our move. Reciprocal glances and look aways are a key to the human (inept) flirting style!
Schizophrenic may be just the right word since we are simultaneously feeling joy (attraction) and fear. It is a crazy feeling. (:

Eventually you might have to make that move. Before that step, though, I'd say try to hold eye contact and give him a smile or wink. Personally it's easier for me to walk over than to wink, but a smile for interest might reel him in. - 7 months ago
