There is this girl in my school we have been friends for a very very long time. when we were in grade school she gave me a kiss on the cheek multiple times and tried to tickle me. Now we are in High school, and we have gone through so much.

Basically I want to know is that the thing we had in grade school, can it last somewhere in a girl/guy's mind for years until they find out the other doesn't like them.

Yes it could happen. Specially in your case. But it does hurt when you find out that the other person doesn't like or that they did but your too late to get it back. By that I mean their love or what ever is it that they felt. But yes it could happen. Like in my case. And yours. Well I hope that I could help. Good luck. :)

That thought may toil away in your mind even long after you find out that the other person did not like you. We tend to hang onto fond memories for a very-very-very longtime.

Heck, I still remember one of the substitute teachers in high-school who came in for one period (English class). I recall the way she looked and the way she talked to me, the way she touched my hand, and every other vivid detail. It has been more than fifteen years but I still remember it.

To get back to the main question, can a person like someone over a long period of time? Yes. Some people even get married, have children, see them grow up and then run into their childhood sweethearts, get divorced and marry their "true" love.
