Is it ok to like and older boy or man?

One year is totally healthy - frankly it seems a lot of girls your age seem to go out with guys 4 to 8 years older. Its also not a bad idea to walk him by your parents, you don't have to say anything, but just see how they react to him.

I know last year right around when I turned 25, my friends would joke about how I could finally date girls in High School, because of the sheer ridiculous number of high school girls flirting and hitting on me - I had to actually start carding girls after being tricked twice.

Once your 18, I'd suggest 2-5 years older - from 21 and up, I recommend no more then a 10 years older. Its all about finding a maturity match, guys tend to run a little behind. I myself generally have had to date girls slightly older then me, as a high school freshman, a senior - as a high school senior, a college junior - at 21 a 27 year old. So your results may vary.

Yeah one year is perfectly normal! I think a guy one or two years older is ideal for a girl, especially at your age. My fiance is one year older than me and when I was about your age I was dating guys at least two years older. Go for it!

Totally! Its better if the family likes him too, and he won't be mistaken for your grandfather, but yeah, I've dated a guy 7 years older than me. Worked out for 4 months. Then well, we found someone better, but hey that's part of the dating world.
