What are the best flirting techniques?

I don't talk to girls that initiate flirting with me, and I tell them that - but I suspect I am 1 in a million. I am always scanning crowds and listening to people and reading body language. Often times its a voice or a silhouette I notice first, then followed by eye contact. However, I notice most guys are not like me, and girls have to practically stand on their head to get noticed.

Well, that begs the question, which guy or kind of guy) would you like to attract? If you are pretty and you're dressing to show yourself off, you'll likely attract many guys (like flies to honey) but only the most aggressive jock-types will push themselves to the front of the line.

If you want a guy who is quiet and bookish, well, read books with him. If you want a guy who plays with electronics or rocks or hikes or whatever, do those things yourself (to the degree of your interest, obviously) and see who's around when you do.

My question to you is, what kind of guy do you want? See what guys are out there and which ones you prefer. Pay attention to them. See what they're into. Ask. When you know someone, even a little, you've already gone a long way towards learning how to share attention with them. That's all flirting is, really -- attention given with the flavor you'd like it returned. The worst he could say is "not interested" in which case, pick the next one.
