What is the best way to get to know this guy and show my interest in him?

There is this guy in my volleyball class at a local community college(I don't attend it. . . My best friend does. . . We were supposed to take the class together but then she dropped out and I liked the peeps in that class to much to drop out too so YEAH)

ANYWAYS!

This one guy in the class has kind of caught my interest! I have worn a dark green shirt with this picture of some birds on the front in ski hats and black basketball shorts and he is always saying "Looks like someone is ready for St. Patrick's day! " (But totally not in an demeaning way! ) And I always retort in a super monotone voice "Yeah. . . I'm a really festive personnnnnnnnnnn" and then I totally crack up!

Well this past class:
~sometimes when I would look in his direction it seemed like he was looking in mine
~when we were high-fiving at the end of a match he kind of like held on to my hand and told me I did a great job at hitting. . . But it wasn't like a rough grip it was like gentle but firm? But it was totally unexpected and I was like "OH. . OH OK THANKS YOU DID AWESOME TOO! "
~there was this one time when one of my teammates was complaining that we were down too far (6-12) and I was like "Hey! At least we improved from last game! (5-12)! " And I looked in his direction and he gave me a thumbs up/smile and said "optimistic, I like it! "
~AND THEN~
~at the end of the class he was joking around with me and told me to not come drunk the next class because St. Patrick's day would be the day before and I said that maybe I would come in a blue shirt just to throw him off. . . And just kind of fled. . .

It is weird! Normally I'm a relatively confident flirtatious person but I find myself stumbling on what to say around him and stuff. From the above info does it seem like he might be showing interest in me? Or am I totally off base?

I'm definitely starting to develop a crush and I would love to start showing interest in him. . . The only thing is that I'm kind of new when it comes to this type of stuff and I'm finding myself shying off around him.

Unfortunately they are on their spring break right now. . . But I'm really looking forward to class next week!

What do you think I should do?

Update: Oh, btw, I'm not sure if this factors into the equation at all but I am a larger girl but I wear it well and have more energy and am more athletic than most of the people in the class. He is an awesome volleyball player himself and he is shorter than me! 9 months ago

Update: (but to be honest I don't really give a shit about the difference in height unless it is unreasonably drastic in the difference! ) 9 months ago
