This guy at work and I have gotten to be pretty good friends, but I like him. I don't know if he likes me as more than a friend. Can't tell, but he seems to seek me out to talk to more than the other girls, and he and I have some common interests that we chat about. He tells me (not so pretty) details about his background and life that some people woud "judge" him on. At least he knows I'm not judgmental. He got his wallet stolen and I gave him some money a few days ago, and he said "you're a big sweetheart, thank you" many times. I know he is somewhat sensitive, but I also know he tends to open up a lot with some people he is not threatened by, like the receptionist. SO, MY QUESTION IS. Do guys open up when they don't want to impress the girl. In other words, he isn't attracted to me, so he isn't intimidated or anything? I am always checking the mirror before I go near where he sits, or making sure I look good, because I want to make a good impression on HIM. He smiles, jokes and helps me, and definitely confides in me, but I don't know if that may lead to something more, or are we doomed to be friends? I've also tried touching his shoulder, back, etc. He doesn't do that back, but he doesn't move away either. He is 36 years old and single guy, a bit immature, I would say, and is not pining away over an old girlfriend. He is just living his life. ANY INSIGHT FROM GUYS IN THEIR MID 30'S IS ESPECIALLY APPRECIATED!
I think it depends on the types of things he is confiding in you about. If he is talking about things that would normally turn a girl off then he might just look at you as a really good friend, but I know that guys will confide in girls they like about other woman, thinking this impresses them, it makes them seem like they are wanted or unattainable which usually makes woman more attracted to you. I think you should continue to feel things out. A way that I use is to ask the person how I look today. Not in a concieded way but does this outfit work cause I was in such a rush this morning. His response- No you look beautiful as always, probably has some interest. For the most part guys are very dense when it comes to signals or even thinking a girl is into them. Especially at work. I would drop hints and pay attention to body language. And if none of that works invite him to get a couple drinks after work and see what happens.
Yea, he talks about personal and family stuff, and things that would make him look stupid, and I laugh and 'cheer him up'. He appreciates my friendship, but I HAVE asked him to happy hour and he agrees, but then sits down with me and says "I think I'm gonna go home. I'm really tired today. (He starts at 5 am), and he LOOKS tired by 5 pm. This other chick is cute, but kinda dim and not clever like he and I. Maybe he likes that she is less of an intellectual challenge. He's 36, she's 30 and I'm 42. - 9 months ago

Well honey from the information you gave me shows that he does like you. Sometimes some guys might not want to show feelings all out there but I'm not talking about everybody he may have certain ways he shows that he likes you All I can say is pay attention to the signs he gives you does he stare at you for a long time or smile or anything else.
What do you think about this-he went to lunch today with this girl who is always asking for his help. I know she likes him, but she is considered to be a scatterbrained gal tomboy and isn't that smart. She is athletic, light hair, no makeup with small chest, and I'm overweight/curvy/busty dark hair, professional look, so he might be attracted to her natural look and figure but we are so different. They didn't sneak out, they signed out of the office together as "out to lunch". Thanks - 9 months ago
