When you're sitting at a table with a guy you like which is more romantic to you? Is it best for the guy to sit across from you or next to you at a square table?
Update: Yikes, if I've been looking 'clingy' how can I change that perception?

Update: Thanks, to all of you. I've just had the opportunity to begin rectifying my mistake and I sat across from her at a square table.

Update: Thanks, again, all of you. Since 11 days ago where ever we've eaten together I've been sitting across from her. The best part of doing that is I'm able to look deep into her eyes with all the love in my heart for her.

Update: I've just returned from again having lunch with her. We went to a place for a second time. It was a square table and I chose a chair opposite of hers. When she saw which chair I chose she switched to the chair to my left. Why?

I agree with the waitress. It always looks awkward to see people sitting next to each other when they're alone at a table. Sitting next to each other is for when there are other people present.
In a busy restaurant, I find it hard to hear people. When people are sitting across from me, it's easier to hear than if they're sitting next to me and speaking straight ahead. Also, a lot of people think it's polite to look your partner in the eye, and you can't do that if you're sitting alongside each other.
I prefer sitting across from him! I like to be able to look him in the eye with as little effort as possible. Body language is also easier to read this way. It would still be okay to sit next to the guy just for the physical closeness, but I think wanting to feel him but not being able to is more fun. Hope that makes sense...
definitely across. i 've been a waitress for a little while, and whenever I would see people sitting beside one another I thought it seemed so awkward.
I think that clinginess is relative. Some girls are more touchy-feely than others and might prefer more distance. It also depends on how much you are into the guy. If I'm not so into you, I might think it was weird that you sat next to me instead of across from me, but if I liked you, I'd wouldn't think anything of it because I *wanted* you to sit next to me. - 29 days ago
Question Asker
At least a couple of times she had her legs crossed towards me with the restless foot touching if not tapping me. - 29 days ago
hhmmm depends on the circumstances when sat opposite to each other you can look at each other but sat next to each other then there's the touches depends what you want :)
Do you also think it's 'clingy' for the guy to sit next to you at a square table? - 29 days ago

If your sat out our having a romantic meal it is best to sit opposite each other, but if your at home and you wanna spice it up you could probably start by sitting opposite but then move next to her for desert start with little touches and maybe feeding each other you get the msg right, ;) - 29 days ago
He should sit across from me at a square table because if he sits beside me at a SQUARE table I am NOT going to see that as romantic... I would see him as CLINGY!
