I have a crush on this girl, and she does glance at me sometimes and smile, but I don't know how to tell if it's flirting. We do talk sometimes, but most of the time it's about school, and we've never hung out outside of school. I have asked her to hang out one weekend, but she said she thinks she already made plans. Is she blowing me off nicely, or what? I get the feeling we're just friends sometimes, but other times I get the feeling she's flirting with me. This summer we're going to be volunteering at a hospital together, and I think about her a lot. What do I do?
Update: We also don't have many friends in common, if that matters, so I don't really know what to talk to her about.

I would think she wants to be friends. Just be friends with her and see how your relationship progresses. If she was interested, then she would flirt and not say she has plans. And even if she did have plans, then she would probably say if you two can hang out another time. But every girl is different.
Chances are she really would have genuine reason. Might be she really has plans. Every thing starts with being friends; try building a better friendship that way instead of risking ur crush by doing a wayward incident you could get to know more before you really ask her out again.
I would have to say she just wants to be friends. If you asked her out and she said might already have plans isn't a good sign. She probably would have said but we can hang out another time for sure. It wouldn't hurt to ask her again down the road.
