There is this guy that I really like and one day we where talking and I thought he was going to ask me out instead he ask me what was going to do with me, then said I am sure I will find out very soon. He is really confusing me he calls me darling and his buddies call me his girl but one minute he is acting like he is about to ask me out then the next he goes all most cold, he gets jealous if he thinks I might be about to date another guy and says that I am his very best friend and always will be. He was married and then got divorced after a really bad marriage to a woman that was abusive to his kids and he says that he is afraid to date because he is afraid it will hurt his kids, but they seem to really like me. Yet he is taking no initiative to take the next step and has made it clear to me that he feels the guy should take the lead in a relationship. He has not tried to date at all since his divorce.

I think this guy sounds like he's not willing to take a risk yet. You have to show him that you wouldn't be like his ex at all, and make sure he knows that you like him. He may very well be just worried that you will turn him down when he asks you out.

Yes, I'm starting to agree that he may very well be scared to ask me out. I really like him a lot and am willing to take the time for him to realize that I am not like his ex and that I will be there for him. He seems to always fall back on me during the hard times when he most needs a woman to be there for him. I am taking it one day at a time and giving him the chance to see that when ever his kids or him need me I'm always there warm and consistent, Do you have any other ideas on showing him? - 4 months ago

Answerer

You may have to find a way to show that there are no other guys that you are interested in. If showing doesn't work, then you may have to flat out tell him you like him and wish to start a relationship. He may just need a kick in the butt to get him going. - 4 months ago
