Update: One problem she has a boyfriend. Prom is nearing so I thought I would ask her as friends for now because I will not be involved with her cheating.

Not necessarily. I am really good friends with this one guy, and I thought he liked me but I didn't like him like that. And I asked our friends if he liked me. So if you guys are really good friends. She is probably not wanting you to like her and she thinks you do but she doesn't wanna hurt your feelings by being rude and end up having you not liking her. Actually you can't really know...Well yea girls do ask people that if they like that guy but you got to be careful first you have to know "how" she's asking that question? Sometimes a girl might think that you like her and she doesn't like you back and she wants to be sure... my friend did that once but see how she acts when ur around her too.. it might work better than hearing about what people tell you!
She likes you because if she didn't, she wouldn't care if you like her or not, and she obviously does if she is asking others. You like her back, right? If so, make that move because she isn't sure if you are interested. Good Luck!

Be friends like you said. Its the right thing to do. But don't ask her to the prom if she has a boyfriend. Shell go with him and if she doesn't and goes with you "as friends" then your talkin a chance that he find out by people talkin then there's drama and everything's screwed up.
