I wanna get to know a girl better and hopefully get her to be my girl friend. Any way to do that, besides asking her out from the start.

Asking for her e-mail? Its better to talk to her in person like as a friend first. If you talk to her like your trying to HOLLA AT her then she'll just think your just one of those guys who just wanna GET SOME and aren't serious for a real relationship.
