My best guy friend always compliments my clothes. The other day he stopped by my work. I was wearing a 3/4 black and white stripped top with a little hood on back. He says, "I really like your shirt". Anytime I get dressed up and wear my 60's style black coat (with big buttons, empire waste, knee length) he always compliments me. He usually asks me for style advice. I find though, anytime I get dressed up he seems to talk to me less! He usually gives me a really huge compliment, but then sort of stops talking to me for the rest of the night. A lot of the time he asks me for style advice. I am confused. On one hand I get a compliment, and on the other hand he seems to sort of ignore me. He is a bit on the 'shallow' side, meaning appearances are important to him and he does have an interest in style. He has really good taste too.

He sounds like a guy who ask you for style advice only person, since you said appearances are important to him and you wear the style he likes. If he doesn't talk about other things like your life or his then I don't think there's more to his compliments, just as simple as he said them "you look nice in that shirt"

Have you ever thought he might be gay. Gay guys tend to solicit with girls more on things such as style seeing as guys aren't really the experts. However since he's gay he's not really into you romantically and as such doesn't notice you all the time when your wearing something new.

From a regular guys point of view:

Guy Friend walks in with new shoes. You don't notice
Hot Chick walks by with bangs and sun glasses and the guy is gawking at her from across the hall.

Your best guy friend doesn't talk to you other then style advice? Doesn't sound too much like a best friend hun! He should want to hang out with you regardless of your appearance :)

Hmm. Have you ever thought he might be gay? Do you ever see him hitting on girls? Or is he usually hanging out with his 'boys'?

Also, compliments on your outfit shouldn't automatically make you raise suspicions about his sexuality, I've had guys pour compliments about my outfits (i love your shoes! ) and they were possibly metro, but far from gay

:)
