So this guy I fancy is really shy. And I'm really shy. I get a feeling that he's interested as a few weeks before relocating he gave me a page-long letter. The letter didn't outright say he was interested but he gave me his contact info.

I'm horribly inexperienced and don't know if I should make the first move and ask him to coffee or something.

And he's told me that even if he is interested in a woman he's so afraid of rejection that he won't pursue her. So. Arg.

If you have feeling for him, you should go for it. Someone need to put a first nail down. Maybe things will change.

Go for it. Seriously - if he's a nice guy, the worst that will happen is that he will say no. If you're super-shy about it, email or text him. Guys risk rejection all the time when they ask a girl out; he will be so happy you did it!

Question Asker He's a bit too nice. Ever see The 40-Year-Old Virgin? This guy is my age but he reminds me of a line from that movie: "I respect women so much I COMPLETELY stay away from them. " - 6 months ago
Answerer LOL! All the more reason for you to make a move. - 6 months ago
Question Asker I'm just wondering if it's possible that he could be so. Not confident that he would reject someone out of sheer disbelief, even if he were attracted to them. - 6 months ago
Answerer You'll never know if you don't try. I wonder how many relationships never get off the ground because both are too shy to do anything. That happened to me many years ago, and I swore it would never happen again! Now, (20 years later and divorced), I do not let that happen. Sure it's possible that he will reject you, and likely for reasons that have nothing to do with YOU. But love and living require risk. Good luck! - 6 months ago
Question Asker Yeah it really sucks. I asked my friend that knows him if she could do some intel. Heh, But I called him and briefly spoke to him and just as I was about to ask if he wanted to hang out (I wouldn't have said "go out". I think that might be self-explanatory as to why), I felt anxious and quickly left the conversation politely and hung up.

So. This might take awhile if this friend reports back with some positive intel. - 6 months ago
