About 3 months ago I was at a party(no alcohol) and I met this girl. We flirted a little bit and made good eye contact and before I left I asked her for her phone number and after a little playful flirting between us she gave me her number. I told my friend about this and he told me that she was really shy unlike what I thought. So I talk to her in school and she is all smiles and one-word answers. I talked with one of her friends who I was friends with and she told me to ask her out like immediately. When I texted her telling her who I was she said hey but when I texted her again she didn't respond. Then another one of her friends told me that she needs to get to know me better but really likes me. So I talk to her and flirt with her and I ask her out. She didn't seem interested though so I moved on. I got a girlfriend and broke up with her within the next two months and about two weeks ago the girl I met at the party was staring at me in class. She also smiles when I pass her in the halls and seems to like me now. But she is even more shy and reserved. I don't want to scare her off by asking her out but that is the only way we can get to know each other better because we don't see each other in school that much. Help!

I can very much relate to your girl. She's probably nervous and doesn't know what to reply or say to you. It's gonna take a lot of work because you are going to go after her. Most likely she is really crushing on you but absolutely terrified. It might have been that night that she felt confident but in reality she's not. GO FOR IT! And good luck.

You need to take her to hang out somewhere. Not on a dater and bring some of her friends and yours so she'll be comfortable. She'll talk to you and feel a lot more comfortable because of her friends being with her. And if you have to talk to her with a friend there so she actually answers with more than one word. After a while she'll open up and you can ask her out but that's the best way to get her out of her shell. Good luck

Advice: How To Lose The Freshman 15
Does it ever annoy you that you're single?
random-ren asked 20 days ago

Yes, most of the time! I really wish I had a boyfriend/girlfriend!

A little, because I feel left out.

Not really...

Nope! I have too much fun being single!

What's there to be annoyed about?

What pickup lines do you use to start a conversation with someone you are attracted to?
I don't use any lines.. leave those to the cheese balls! I usually start by making a joke, complimenting a part of their outfit, or ask if they are having a good time or like the place.. if they are interested in conversation I will have no trouble making her laugh!

How do they typically respond?
If they don't respond positively or have that look on their face like there is somewhere else they need to be, I drop conversation and move on... otherwise my smile, laugh, and constant eye contact usually causes them to be interested in getting my number or hanging out for a while longer!

Do I have the right approach?
