I have to admit I love compliments. Not that I'm going to fall in love with a guy immediately, but well it just feels nice to be reminded how beautiful (great in any other way) I am. But I guess the most important thing is not to go too far. For instance while enjoying being told I'm beautiful I probably wouldn't like being called gorgeous/fabulous, that's a little too much, sounds pretentious. I also don't fancy the body parts compliments. They've been so overused that now they seem cheesy. And when somebody is trying to sound original and tells you you have a perfect skull shape or beautiful ankles (etc) that's just bizarre. And finally I don't like compliments of the "how stylish" kind. A guy told me "oh you're wearing skinny jeans with high-heeled shoes that looks so stylish and trendy". That kind of thing makes me think he's either gay or has to much time on his hands. However something like "your t-shirt is funky" or "what a cute skirt" is ok. Instead of telling what gets my attention I went on about what doesn't. But I hope it might still help somebody.
Something that is generic or that we have heard over and over will not get my attention. Work something nice to say into the conversation. I went out with one of my guy friends a couple weeks ago. We flirt a lot. Anyway, When he hugged me he noticed that I was wearing a different perfume that what I normally wear and commented on how nice I smelled and that he liked it on me. Take some time to pay attention to detail and point it out. It makes us think that you really are interested.
Thank you for the answer. I like this approach and I will definitely use it. It sounds like a compliment is great, but when it is just a casual compliment and not over done, it means more. - 5 months ago
There are several here are some examples: "You are photogenic" "I like your shirt" "You smell nice" "You know, you are pretty eyes. " "I like your hair that way. "
Things like this break the ice and make us women feel special.
Compliments that really grabbed my attention from a guy was when he told me I had a very cute smile,or when they tell me am pretty, have a nice body, that they like the way I am. Does are some things that guys tell me and it grabs my attention. I think that might be a good way to get girls attention.
I have to say complements don't get my attention! I don't like a guy to be like oh your so pretty blah blah! I've heard it all before if a guys with me and we have fun and are loving towards each other that's all I need I don't need any complements
It's cool to hear that - I think that means you're confident enough in who you are to not have to have someone flatter you in order to win your approval! - 4 months ago
Something that's not generic, a good compliment shows that you actually put thought into it and really mean it. I'm not saying you shouldn't tell a girl she's beautiful, that's fine sometimes too but constant use generic compliments makes it sound like you're just trying to get on her good side with the least amount of effort on your part-basically it's a cop out
