I am a well liked, popular, very funny guy and I'm not that good looking but I'm definately not ugly. Anyway I don't know why I can't get a girlfriend. This year I thought that there were two girls who liked me (since they both laughed at all my jokes, made long eye contact, and constantly flirted with me) but whenever I tried to progress and move towards a more "boyfriend like" status then they would back away and act like they just wanted to be friends. soon the first girl started dating someone else and the second girl who I had stronger feelings for ended up asking one of my best friends to the prom before I asked her (I would have asked her sooner but she never mentioned prom before and I wanted to wait for the perfect day to ask her but it doesn't matter since she didn't even want to go with me) I thought that she actually liked me and I made it obvious that I liked her. What exactly am I doing wrong and what signs am I missing?
It looks like those girls only liked to flirt for fun. Haven't you ever flirted for the rush of it? I think when you tried to take things to a more serious level, they became uncomfortable because they weren't expecting it. They backed off and established the friend connection again so they could go after the guys they had stronger feelings for. It is very misleading and hard to tell if a girl is flirting for fun or because they're interested. Sorry 'bout the prom!
