To me lust is a mostly physical attraction and desire for a person who you may not have strong enough feelings for to be in a committed relationship. Or maybe you're already committed to someone (and even happy) but have these desires for another person. I think there's a bit of lust at the outset of any courtship, because you desire this person - but at the time they are not within your reach. And you don't know them well enough to love them. To me love involves body and soul. By some definitions love is an attraction strong enough to defy reason. You don't think straight. It seems possible to get to that point and not yet know the person inside.

lust is an extreme sexual desire on borderline obsession, for example "Bill Lusts after his neighbors wife". Bill does not love her, Bill does not care about the wellbeing of his neighbors wife, he just cares about himself.

Love is not self seeking.

Lust
–noun
1. intense sexual desire or appetite.
2. uncontrolled or illicit sexual desire or appetite; lecherousness.
3. a passionate or overmastering desire or craving (usually fol. by for): a lust for power.
4. ardent enthusiasm; zest; relish: an enviable lust for life.
