I'm not very good at getting a girl's phone number and every time I try to do so I talk myself out of it. How do you ignore that voice inside your head? Any little tricks to help me out with this.

(I just posted this on a similar question to yours)

Get over the fear of rejection. When you talk to a girl what's the worst thing that can happen?

Her saying no. that's it. not a big deal

If she says no. learn from what you did wrong, forget the chick and move on.

In 1999 the Yankees lost 64 games. but they stepped up to the plate and did what they had to do and won 94 games, allowing them to win the world series. What I'm trying to say is you can't be successful without numerous failures. I could go on with examples forever.

Thomas A. Edison failed thousands of times before finding out the right combo of gas and filament in his quest to invent the electric light bulb.

Another highly successful person, Wayne Gretzky, one of the GREATEST athletes of all time missed 90% of his shots

If some of the most successful people ever born started out as failures what made you think you wouldn't?

Learn from your mistake. you can only learn how to talk to girls after doing it. if she kicks you off you horse get the f*** back up, brush yourself off, and keep on going

awholenewsetofrules Well said! I think more females need to hear this sort of thing too. I don't know why so many of us are afraid to make the move ourselves. Not me.... other girls, lol. - 7 months ago

Man oh man rejection got you on the butt huh? Guy get over it sometimes it can be a blessing and I'm talking literally! So what if one person says no your not the one for every one and every one is not the one for you. Every thing that goes wrong you learn from it. Be preceptive and observe your self. Practice makes perfect by the way!

It apparent that you are battling with fear, doubt and insecurity.

I understand it's difficult for you to get up the courage but you have to make yourself do it in order to get over your fear.

Rejection is part of life (unfortunately) and we all have to endure rejection from time to time.

You have to tell yourself "what do I have to lose?" It isn't like you are losing anything, but if you go for it you just might gain a wonderful woman in your life.

I wish you luck!

I know I'm a girl but girl's like boys asking for their phone numbers if they are calm and relaxed around them like talking and being normal practically. Take a risk and maybe you're thinking what the girl is going to say. or maybe your too nervous because of the answer. Think positive and you may have a chance!
Hope this helps sorry if not!

Your problem is that you fear rejection, you think that automatically she will say no, so what if she does, learn from your mistake and try again. Ignore the voice in your head and instead of saying I wonder if I can get her number, turn it around and say she wants my number do I want to give it to her. It's not about her man its about you. Your in control not her, stop fearing rejection and just go for it simply start some chit chat make up an excuse on why you have to leave and say well hey are you single, she says yes say something like this good, let me get your number and I am going to take you to dinner this weekend I'll call you to set up a time and a day, then get the number and walk away.

I can understand things that get in the way of asking, but how do you talk yourself out of it? I'm not sure I follow that. Do you find reasons why it's not a good idea to ask, or just not the right time or the right way?

say to yourself "f*** it" I mean one of the main fears a guy has when it comes to women is rejection (which is why the voice tells you to forget it) so overcome it and talk to the girl a good while when you meet her and then before you leave ask for her number and if she doesn't give oh well you were probably looking at another girl while talking to this one so talk to her haha that happened to me once and I ended up dating that other girl
