Guys don't do subtle hints. I never realized this girl liked me until she invited me to her birthday party and I was the only one invited. Just come straight out and ask him. It'll save you a lot of time and misery.
Guys generally don't do well with subtle hints, and trying to use them to convey your feelings often leads to misunderstandings. You can go ahead and try to use them if you want, but you MUST accept that he may not ever know unless you come right out and tell him. Us guys really don't do subtle that well. You can trust me on that.
I think you just need to tell him. That would be the best way. Another way that I have experienced firsthand was from a girl that liked me, and she started to get very touchy-feely on me. I'm sure that some girls don't do that kind of thing but that was what made me realize she liked me.
How about, "are you ever going to ask me to dinner, or are you going to make me wait?" Be strait up about it, and honest! Hints don't do anything besides promote more questions!
HA! hints never work with guys! sorry to all the guys but really, trying to give subtle hints to a guy is like trying to outrun a tiger. its highly impossible to work. you can start by maybe complimenting him, uhm. reading what the guys have said. being straight out is probably the best way to do it. but it might be very nerve wrecking. but hey! its worth a shot isn't it?
My best advice here is forget hints! If you want someone to know something, honey, you need to tell them! Hints can be easily mistaken. my current significant other thought my "hints" that I liked him meant I didn't want to be near him! How he thought that, I have no idea. My hints were things like touching his arm a lot, giggling, flirting.and he just misread me. had I not said anything, I wouldn't be with him now.
