So, there's this guy. I've known him for over 4 years and we hang out with the same group of friends, but lately he's always picking on me, you know the type where if we go hiking with all our friends, he will make sure to pretend to trip me. Or just recently we all went walking near a river, and he tried to throw me in the water. Anyway, also when we're all hanging out with friends, he always makes a comment about me, my hair, clothes, etc. So, I'm trying to figure him out - is this his 3rd grade way of saying he likes me? Or is he just an asshole and I just noticed?
SOME guys can't really say what they are feeling. I mean come on WHO SAYS EXACTLY WHAT'S ON THEIR MIND. Read the subtext. He likes you. Would he spend energy on something he doesn't care for?
Discretion is one way, but I would suggest being direct, which is how men are, anyways. The key is to intermingle the directness with humor, so that you are not completely exposed ("I was just kidding").
Well, if he has been doing this all along and you haven't noticed, then he is a jerk and you have a brother/sister relationship with him. If he just started doing this, then yes... maybe he has some feelings for you... but does not want to show them to you because he's afraid of rejection or what not. Also, he might just be shy and not flirt w/ you if he likes you.
I've been in that same place and I was pretty sure he liked me but the only way to find out for sure is to ask. If you really want to know you should just discreetly bring it up one time when you're talking and if he doesn't at least you can say you know for sure.
