Just a quick question. How can I tell if a guy at the gym is interested in me? We see each other at the gym on a weekly basis and I smile at him when I see him. He does sometimes work out on a machine by me. The question is, it is appropriate for me to go up to him at the club and make conversation with him. We've run into each other out at the bar, but nothing was said, just glances. Please advise me how to approach him and if I should wait till he gets ready to leave. PS. He always has his earphones in?
Ask him to spot you on a piece of exercise equipment. Or use a machine that you've seen him using and pretend to have trouble with the settings when he is nearby and could maybe stroll over and help out (only do this if there is a machine available that is somewhat complicated - otherwise it would make you look dumb).
Getting a guy at the gym can be a challenge. I have read and heard many times that girls like to be able to "sweat in peace," so in the absence of a tell tale sign, I wouldn't bother a girl while she was exercising, even if I liked her. I'd aim for a quick drink at the juice bar with her.

What pickup lines do you use to start a conversation with someone you are attracted to?
I'm not overly shy so if I see someone I like I will just start talking to them.. depends on the setting I guess. I don't do any true "pickup lines", but I do often say something like 'hey, you look nice - are you here with your friends tonight." or "Hey, having a good time" If they are interested this seems to work most of the time.
How do they typically respond?
Most girls either just walk away or make small talk and leave.. but some appreciate the straightforward approach and will keep talking to me. Any suggestions?
