A good friend of mine was saying how if a guy you haven't known that long asks you to hang out with you it usually means he's interested? Is this usually true? Or are there exceptions? Like he just wants to be your friend?

Yes hangout means interested :) most definitely :). Haven't seen an exception in my previous engagements with women? So I don't think there are any exceptions to the rule. Unless your perhaps just ugly and nasty. Then it would mean just friends perhaps. ALthough I don't see you as ugly at all so for you I don't see that fitting one bit. LOL.

hang out as in go on a date he's interested, hangin out at work or school, more than likely a friend, if continuous hanging out at work at school with stronger emotions then I'd say he's in for more.

Question Asker Well he asked for my number and asked if I "wanted to hang out and go out sometime." He's even offered to pick me up in his car. So I'm guessing.. interested. - 9 months ago
Answerer Yeah "asked out" is the key word espescially if he picks you up too, what type of date was he thinking of? - 8 months ago
Question Asker We were going go to lunch. But I told him I was sick and had to cancel. He's not calling or texting me anymore. I think I blew it with him. :/ - 8 months ago
christinavlad Don't ask him out. He might get really embarrassed. Wait until he gets really horny/desperate, and then you'll be getting a phone call! It'll probably be at a late hour of the morning when he's really drunk and can't tell WHAT the hell he's bangin'. - 7 months ago

asking too early can be construed as interested, get to know him casually first, then ask him/her out

yes sometimes that could mean hangout because wanted company..i used to hangout with guys and remained friends, people thought we are dating we absolutely not,he doesn't like me special as how he likes other girls and I defenitely don't like him as how I like other guys but yeh we hangout a lot of time after school, meet other friends do home works togetherkeep company and advices when we like someone else and now he's married and have a child and still we are best buddies...but I don't overlook the fact that yeh mostly if guys or girls invite to hangout with you is they like you yeh that could be too but I'm just sayin to you that could only main he just wants company for that day no other special plans and he thinks you're nice to be with and fun for that day..you will know when he likes you really he wouldn't take long ass hangouts to let you know he likes you so just see and wait asnwers coming your way soon.:))

If a guy you have not known that well is asking you to hang out there is no expectations..It is a chance to get to know eachother. He is interested in getting to know who you are leave the rest to the time that goes by.

Usually friends are beat in comparison to love interests. I don't think your case is an exception.
