He texts me or calls every day. He always wants to know how my day was and why it was good or bad. He asks me to hang out - at his house or with mutual friends. He will even leave what he is doing to come hang out with me. The strange thing is that he doesn't get close to me. When we are with a group he spends most of the night talking to me only but will never sit right next to me. I must admit that the first time he tried to hug me it was a little awkward - I am not very good at this kind of thing. I really like him but am afraid that he just wants to be friends and I don't want to ruin our friendship. Any suggestions? Does it sound that he likes me as more than a friend? How do I let him know I like him?
Update: We we were hanging out with friends. He tells me that one of my friends is hot but would never pursue it because she used to date a friend of his. After that-he was glued to my side.

Update: He was as close as he could be, knees touching, etc. I tried to act like his comment didn't bother me. He was also acting jealous- a few times someone touched my side or rear and he said "Whoa, I don't think I like that" He is really confusing me?

Well he wouldn't care for you if he didn't keep calling you or texting you everyday. Sounds to me that he has something for you. You probably can't be positive because he gets shy. But what I think you should do is hang out with him more often but just you two. Find out for yourself what is going on and see if the friendship could go into something more serious.
Yeah he likes you a lot! You can definitely notice he is shy too! He is scared of breaking his personal space and yours too. I think you should encourage him to come closer to you and basically be the balls in the situation and put him on the spot!
He definitely wants to step up the relationship between you two. Any shy guy in the world could see that from a mile away. He has a hard time breaking outside his "personal space" so he asks you to hang out with mutual friends, though he has worked up the courage to invite you over to his house. As to what you should do, I think that you should be a LITTLE more up front with him,I'm not exactly sure what you should do seeing as that I'm a guy :P But is I had to tell you to do anything, it would be MAKE EYE CONTACT.
