How can I be more photogenic?

I know exactly what you mean. I have never had much in the way of self-confidence physical wise and I am NOT a photogenic person (and I know what you mean about the nose, I feel the same way about mine). But there are ways to work with your best features that will downplay what you don't like. I've found that you can get rid of the bird's beak effect by either taking more serious pictures or experimenting with smaller smiles rather than the full on toothy grin. A small smirk makes you seem confident and mysterious but it isn't enough to make your nose seem weird. Also try different angles. Holding the camera above your head and looking up at it accents your eyes. If you don't like your nose beware of turning your head too much in either direction, it can look good if done right however turn TOO much and it will be a silhouette and your nose will stick out instead of blending into the face. Just experiment with different angles and facial expressions til you find one you like. Try not to let the camera catch you in odd positions or you'll find a few pictures your friend's took of the inside of your mouth or your face turning an odd shade of red. And in drastic conditions you can always alter photos for small imperfections. Altering color/contrast/brightness look even the worst photos fun and programs to do that can be bought or are on many computers.

But overall I've got to tell you you're probably over-reacting. People are their own worst critics and the small flaws you obsess about others probably don't even notice. Try not to let it bother you as hard as that is and just have fun. Even celebs have pictures taken at bad moments, no one looks like they're in the middle of a photo shoot in everyday life. And silly bad pictures are always fun to laugh at later.
