The planets will all align together. OOOHHH EEEEEMMMMMM GEEEEEEEE. The worse thing to happen would be a GIANT tsunami that would probably wreak a lot of havoc FOR ONE DAY.
nahh...its all drama...in order to get your money. The people who produced this movie are getting boners right now because of all the expected money they will get by manipulating people's emotions.
no way i meant there have been so many other "ends of the world" what makes this one different? i just think the world needs a reason to be scared just like swine flu. its big because the world needs a reason to be scared i mean I believe in swine flu obviously people are dying from it but I don't know why its such a big deal people die from cancer and so many other influenza's so what's the big deal with this one? its just here to make the world scared cause if the world isn't scared then the trouble begins
my mum died yesterday but it wasn't 2012... its not gonna happen... we're all gonna die at some point... but not all of us by then. simple... the answer is NO! its a load of bullsh*t so its not gonna happen... no.
Sorry about you mum, hun. But I second this opinion. They said we were all gonna die in 2000, but uh, I don't know if you have noticed, BUT WE'RE ALL STILL ALIVE! - A month ago
i being a muslim don't agree.there are diffrent reasons why people say like this .main reason what scientist have found is that some massive piece of rock is moving with high speed towards earth and it might hit earth and earth will have some effects of it .it is also said 1/3 of earth population will die with its effect but this is bullsh*t I feel.jus be good and keep your self and others happyand pray your god.you will go to heaven even if you die.pray and be good.
It's rubbish to be CONCERNED about when "the world will end" inasmuch as the world WILL END FOR EVERYONE ON EARTH in a matter of a few years (for some, it's sooner than others). It's one of those guarantees you get when you are born. Just like taxes, if you follow what I'm saying. I'll guarantee you that no matter what age you die, when you look back it will seem like a very short life. SO LIVE IT AND APPRECIATE IT NOW!
the fact that there even is the move "2012" jst signifies that those movie makers (or most of them) believe the world isn't ending 2012 but want to make a big buck out of it. I still want to watch the movie though since its another "Y2K" theory on the end.
Haha, would you believe they're actually making a film about it? Maybe these businessmen were in cahoots with the Mayans and had them predict that the world would end at 2012 so they could make a profit. Who knows, maybe it'll be good for some people. Like making them feel like they have a second chance or something lol or maybe it'll just teach them to stop being so damn superstitious :P
This Theory Is based on the Mayan Calender. But all the Ideas that the world is going to end isn't founded on anything. The Mayans used the changing of their calendar as an excuse for big party !
Me and my best friend are convince it will be ended bu a Zombie Apocalypse and I have a bad feeling I'm gonna be the one to cause it or a Robot Apocalypses.
If people believe all the disinformation BS artists out there then yeah, the world will end in 2012! Better start stocking up your end-of-the-world supplies to ride it out in your bunker! hehehe
NO! its not gonna end in 2012, in my opinion 2012 its going to be a big spiritual shift in the world around us. what this means I don't fully know yet. but I know that the world will end one day. and when it does it will be in a fiery inferno. if you guys are so worried about the world ending, focus your attention to CERN, they theorize that their experiment may open up a black hole...that could swallow the earth in 3hrs...look it up
I believe it was according to wired magazine, there were 2 or 3 theories of what could happen with the Particle accelerator. According to the physics that allowed a black hole to be born, the same physics would cause it to be so small that it'd almost immediately dissipate. Though Science is scary, When they first tested the nuclear bomb, they could not prove that the chain reaction wouldn't stop. They tested the bomb anyways with the possibility it could have destroyed the world. - A month ago
no.. last time it was y2k the time before that it was nuclear holocaust and before that was WW2 so will the world end? no. does the media love scaring people? yes. and anyhow if the Mayan calender ended 2012 well then we would a died years ago cause I doubt they knew about leap year.
Every generation has the vanity to think they are the final product of evolution and that they will mark the culmination of the human race. They are, of course, incorrect. Despite predicting the end of the world as we know it for thousands of years, they have failed to be right even once.
People who take this sort of think seriously either lack wit or have dishonest intentions. Nothing like the end of world to loosen people's purse-strings and undergarments.
150? More like 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000. - 2 months ago

Not really. At some point in time the world will end..that much is definite. Scientists believe that the sun is just about half burnt out. When it does actually burn out completely, they believe it will expand so vastly, that it will consume earth along with other planets in its path. When this happens...nothing will matter... - 2 months ago
Of course it will. Don't you know? So, you have about 2 years to do everything in you bucket list or you'll be SOL!
Ha! if I can predict the future, I will be the richest of the richest in the world. That's because I know the outcomes of the world series, Kentucky Derbies, local roulette tables, or anything I can bet on, you name it! Have you seen the movie "Back to the Future"?
Joking aside, no one knows the future and that is that!
Garbage in, garbage out. Just because it's the end of the Mayan Calender doesn't mean that it's the end of civilization, because let's face it, not even the angels in heaven know when the world is going to end. And we're all better off not knowing.
I research this stuff a lot and the Mayan calender ends in 2012 not because they thought the world would cease to exist they weren't that stupid that's just the end of when they could make predictions based on the methods they\re astrologers used for there predictions were dead on and I agree with them that we are entering a pivotal time in which there will be a lot of chaos and war. Again they didn't predict the end of the world they just couldn't make predictions past 2012 because of something to do with the stars and everything coming to a stop from our perspective or something like that. The last time the planets and stars aligned like they will in 2012 was 0 AKA jesus' birth.
There actually has been studies on these cultures about the end of the world and how they have coped after the fated day has passed.... needless to say, they found a way to go around what didn't happen to still value their beliefs despite of what OBVIOUSLY didn't occur then. - 2 months ago
I would say no. I'm a firm believer in God and when he wants the world to end it'll end. No prediction is going to be right, the only thing you can trust is the bible, it doesn't give a date but things are occuring. I'm gonna see the movie anyways though lol.
Cuz you don't have any other thing to trust in ! - 2 months ago

Okay that's fine, everyone has their own beliefs and thoughts and I'm not gonna through my religion on you lol. But it's what I'm going to trudst in and hopefully I'm right. And exactly lol. - 2 months ago
No I don't believe so. Anyone remember Y2K? Everyone freaked out thet this is the end. But guess what? Nothing happened. There have been hundreds of end of the world predictions in history. 90% of them have been started by some crackpot thinking he knows best. Well he didn't apparently. Anyways did you know that this 2012 crap was started by people looking at the MAYAN calendar? The Maya were all dead thousands of years ago and we're supposed to believe because their calendar ends that we will all die. There are so many holes in this theory it's not even funny. Why should we believe in some primitive civilization to tell us when we die? Stupidity is what it is. Plus no one ever told us how it ends. HOW are we all gonna die in 2012? There are no comets or asteroids that can possibly hit us by 2012. Most likely if Dec. 30 2012 was the end we'd have already figured out how. It's just so vague. That's just like me going up to you on the street and saying that you are gonna die on June 31, 2010. Would you believe me? Most likely not. This is the same thing except on a much larger scale. Unless there is a catastrophic event in 2012 I highly doubt that this will happen. And even if it does so what? We can't control it really so why worry about it? Just continue living life and don't worry about 2012. Once it doesn't happen we can go and beat up the morons who constructed this theory...
Well its not just a larger scale, it was doctrine, BELIEF back in those days and still now for those followers who believed in it... but totally agree though. there is a lot of paradox when you read between the lines and research the FACTS. - 2 months ago
Its gotta end some time.. why not 2012? Science is advanced enough to have an idea about this these days.. espesh as the ozone layer is being destroyed, should be a laugh any how
The world is not going to come to an end. God loves us all. He will not let anything happen to us. It is our faith in Him that will always protect us no matter what. Even if there is a breakout of a pandemic disease like swine flu, He will protect us all. It is we who fail to recognize his potential & keep on worrying meaninglessly !
They just don't know God do they Amrit few will understand what ur saying i kinda agree with you, but ye the world will end sooner or later but only God knows when - 2 months ago
"god" only loves those who believe in his religion. cause apparently everyone who doesn't believe is going to hell. and don't try to tell me different cause you know and everybody else knows its true, and there are constant reminders to non-believers - 2 months ago

@christine88 @JustDance
If you are a non-believer in God, then I am not going to argue with you.
They weren't even arguing with you. all they're doing is stating their opinion that the christian god is not who they place their beliefs in. it doesn't even matter who we believe in...we're all going to continue to argue about religion for years and years. - 2 months ago
I don't know about the whole 2012 thing, but I do know that all the known oil fields have already hit peak oil and no major oil fields have been discovered since the 1960's ...when oil becomes more scarce, especially as other countries such as China are catching up to us in oil use, then wars will be fought (like the first Iraq war) and economies will dry up. Without oil and coal we would also never be able to produce as much food as we do now, which leads to famine and disease - just look at 3rd world countries. Put one gallon of gas in your car and drive it up the road until you run out of fuel, then try to push it back the same distance that the one gallon of gas drove it...it would probably take you all day to do the work of just one gallon of gas.
So in THAT respect I'm pessimistic about the future, but when it comes to the world ending abruptly in 2012 I don't think so.
Actually I read an article in discovery magazine and they found a ton of new oil fields under the ice in the arctic circle. Apparently Russia has already staked claims underwater via a flag planted by a submarine. There are also some new oil fields in the area that used to connect the kamchatka peninsula to alaska. - 2 months ago
Answerer
Oil is still a non-renewable resource and it is still becoming more and more scarce. Each of those oil fields that you just mentioned will take a ton of oil just to extract that oil from the ground because they are in obscure places and underneath the ocean. Look at the tiny size of an oil pump jack for simple land extraction (http://www.well-surveillance.com/observerapps_files/oil-rig.jpg) versus the huge water rig (http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2007/10/09/oilplatform_wideweb__470x338,0.jpg) - 2 months ago
Answerer
Not to mention the obvious fact that the oil in and around Russia belongs to Russia, and who says they will even sell it to us when they can sell it to their ally China - especially after we keep annoying them by sticking our nose in their business (i.e. Chechnya and Georgia). - 2 months ago
I think that we all already no oil is pretty much gone in the future but then there's renewable resources....wats going to happen with those? are we going to FIGHT for water? SHOVE for wind? ARGUE for the sun? wen they become our energy source? I think there's too much wind/ sun to fight over but waters a different issue... - 2 months ago
the end of the world has been predicted more times than I care to remember. some times those predictions get heard by a lot of people and cause panic. this is no different. unless they can give more evidence than "the Mayans said it would happen" don't trust it. in my opinion it has no more merit than a certain book that claims the world was made in 7 days.
I don't believe that just mere humans like ourselves can predict anything accurately. The whole Y2K rubbish is a perfect example. Ignorant folks spent hundreds of their dollars building bunkers and stocking up on survival goods, and when that fatal moment was upon us nothing happened. There is no clear evidence to the whole 2012 theory, and until I see some I'm not buying it
have you heard the rumors that Obama is the anti-Christ? well I kinda don't believe it and I'm not christian at all but the bible talks about an anti Christ that will come representing "peace" trying to stop war, we will be someone important, the person will be of the same decendense of the ones that crucified Jesus which are the Romans..not saying obama is but he's middle eastern and the must have been some mix there, the person will be kind of middle age between his 40 o yeah must important is a HE and what scared me the most is that the bible also says he will only have 3 years to do this(in the bible talk about months but its the same as 3 years)..so obama just ot elected as the president of the united states..very important position and already won the Nobel Price for Peace..he plans to stop war and yeah between since he started on January 2009 to 2012 is 3 years...another thing this very important Pope he had a dream of god and he described exacly every single pope we had..EXACTLY and lets just say that the one we have now(dont remember the name I'm not christian) was the last one he wrote down..not so scare anyone of you but those are true facts
I'm not gonna say that I don't believe that. I believe it because no one knows when the world is going to end, that just may be the year. Then again I don't, because once again no one knows when the world is going to end. But if we are going by what man says, then no. Who do they think they are, God?
IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE WAY THAT THE WORLD IS GOING TO END, READ THE BOOK OF REVELATION IN THE BIBLE...IT GIVES PLENTY OF WARNING SIGNS AND INSTRUCTIONS!
Revelation 20:12-13 "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." says the Lord
Only God's knows and know I don't think it's going to be on 2012. Anyhow, when you die that's the end regardless wether others are alive or not. So find God do your best I guess =)
" not the actual world but more of a spirtual world change...if that makes any sense. oh yeah, they also beleived earths magnetic poles were going to switch places and that only a few people would survive for this".
Yeah that's what I heard of it to. I don't thik the world will end as in stop, but I think we all need a huge kick up the a$$ and a bit of a shake up the way things are going, and I think somehow or other that's in the post. Take a look at all the natural disasters going on, and the general state of the world and how people live these days,if its not a natural disaster we will/already are destroying ourselves. Somethings got to happen because we are abuseing the hell out of this planet, and no amount of praying to any god or trying to guess when will change that. Me I just try to do my bit, reduce carbon footprint and all that because I think about my son growing up and what we are leaving for future generations, lets face it it isn't a cheerful thought. So...i think something will happen to give us a kick up the a$$. Nice uplifting thread this one lol.
yeah and I'm married to johnny depp...duh...anyway... in a metaphoric way the world has ended...look around you..its full of misery and poor ppl...you ll say that it has always been like this and that's true...but its becoming even worse day by day and no one does anything about it...so yes...the world has ended...
It seems like a plot to a really overdone suspense thriller. I don't believe in it. Planets have aligned before, and the world wasn't destroyed because of it.
Seriously, there have been hundreds of apocalyptic predictions, and none of them came true. So what makes this one different?
Honestly I don't think that the world is going to end in 2012. People are led to believe that it will because the Mayans calender ends on 2012. Supposedly the Mayans were very "smart" people, but I don't know how true this is.
Anyways, I just thought I would tell you what I know and what I think.
no I do not think the world is going to end but my world issues teacher sure as hell thinks that the horsemen are coming for us.. from the bible.. and I go to a public high school..
apparently the earth will be in the center of the galaxy that day and the poles are supposed to flip (like they did thousands of years ago if you recall from earth science) so yeah...i think there is a good chance.
ok first off the mayans calender ends in 2012 because they beleived the world was going to end. not the actual world but more of a spirtual world change...if that makes any sense. oh yeah, they also beleived earths magnetic poles were going to switch places and that only a few people would survive for this " world spiritual change"..which they are moving buuuuttt...that take millions of years...duh. And plus I've got too much going for the world to end...:)
No; scholars, astronomers and historians used to believe that the world was to end in the year 1000 and that turned out to be nonsense too so, no of course not! xxx
total rubbish lol but if people don't start giving a sh*t a simple act such as littering, then I have no doubts that something along the lines of the world ending, will happen sooner than we think.
People like to have neat, perfect answers. And not knowing when the earth is going to end is one of those things that irks people. I highly doubt it will end anytime soon. People have been talking about this for... ever! Anyone remember Y2K? People buying water, generators, and basements full of canned foods. Life your life, and hopefully we'll all be able to watch our children and great grandchildren grow up. :)
There are hundreds of predictions about the end of the world, and still counting! Just don't find a cave in a mountain and block yourself in there on that date...it would be waaaay embarrassing to have to get someone to move that huge rock so you could get back out!
i havnt really looked into it, but that would be kinda cool. :p ya know...to live through that time. but also, not so cool because we all die...or the world does at least..
BUT I don't think the world will end. I think something big will happen at the time given though. but not end.
Ok, here's the thing. Everyone automatically hears things and assumes 2012 is the end...Not necessarily. What is does mean, is an apocalypse. And to clarify that, it means a big change in the world. So there are many theories about what shall happen. Planets aligning, the crystal skulls coming together etc. (No, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull Movie wasn't made up) lol Nostradamus predicted WWII, September 11, and December 21'st 2012. So far he's been mostly right. Anyway, big change can mean anything. It can be aliens coming down, it could be the wiping out of all negativity on this planet, it could be starting time all over, and, yah it could be the end of the world. Truth is, Nobody will know. Not even the world's smartest scientists, archeologists, whatever. We'll just have to wait and see. And plus...who knows, maybe everyone's freaking out for no reason and it'll turn out to be a bunch of as you say "rubbish," We just won't know till that day.
Looks like I'm going to have to go against the crowd on this one. I believe there is merit to the claim of 2012, however I do not believe the world will end necessarily, there will most likely be a significant event such as a natural disaster. This being caused by the galatic alignment of the sun and the galaxy's equator. This is astronomically proven to occur during the December solstice. It occurs once every 26,000 years and we are due fo the next one in 2012. It is the ramifications of this event that will effect Earth. The mayans were a very intelligent race and were proven to accurately predict cosmic and events they were well ahead of their time. Their ability to map out the stars and predict future planetary alignments was incredibly accurate. The infamous mayan calender illustrates these events. So maybe think twice before assuming everything will be fine. This claim of 2012 has more evidence than the bible ever had. Yet most believe in it, make up your own mind, I know I have.

I will admit that I know nothing. I have no idea if it will end or not, so I will not be ignorant and say it definitely won't, and I'm not going to be naive and say it definitely will. What I do believe is that this world will not last forever. Because it can't. Nothing does. The sun will eventually go out, our natural resources will be vastly depleted. And those are only a couple of reasons. The Mayan civilization were probably the most educated and advanced peoples, right up there with the Ancient Egyptians. I think that it is most strange that they decided to end their calendar at December 12th, 2010, but like I said, I'm not going to pretend that I know why they did it. All I know is that the Mayans had a reason for EVERYTHING. I think it will be pretty interesting to watch the days as the date approaches and see what happens, if anything actually does happen. I think that humans are so stupid sometimes. We are so quick to believe or disbelieve every goddamn thing. We are so quick to prove or disprove. Can we not just be unknowing mortal people for a little bit and not try to be such know-it-alls? Do I think the world is going to end in 2012? I don't have a damn clue. And neither does anyone else.
I like your look on things but its like human nature or something to ask and seek out answers even if there arnt any. so we end up believing/ disbelieving every thing possible to seem like we have all the answers. - 2 months ago
I don't think the world is going to "end" per se. Like completely stop & everyone dies, nope. BUT I do believe that the WORLD as WE know it will end. The old ways of doing things, living, interacting with others & countries will change completely.
Apparently we are entering the age of Aquarius, which if you search more into it, speaks of a more peaceful, aware, optimistic times. Think of it as another age of enlightenment in a way.
The age we are in right now, the age of Pisces (symbolic as the "fish" seen in Christianity), is the age of "duality" between body & soul. Aquarius will kind of bring back and unite both body & soul, making a lot of people aware of their purpose for being on Earth.
Maybe I'm a new age junkie, but that's what I think will happen come 2012!
Where did you get this info? we're in the age of pisces? entering the age of aquarius? sounds like something I'd very much be interested in. I'm a libra btw. - 2 months ago

My information comes from a mix between my own research (you can search for this stuff on yahoo, google, etc just type in "Age of Aquarius or Age of Pisces"), a movie I'd seen [esoteric agenda] and information I've learned in my Sociology & Humanities classes in college. Hope that helped! =) - 2 months ago

No way...they do say that some line formation with the planets will occur, so maybe that's a possibility, but I'm sure it's not going to cause the end of the world..
I don't know, but I have had two totally unconnected sources say it would be the fault of the legion of Zombie dead...Coincidence? I think not...(giggle)
Probably not, I mean it didn't end in 1999. We're all still here right? *checks* Yep, everyone's still alive. People are always making predictions about the end of the world so I don't think we have very much to worry about. Of course I can't wait to see the movie 2012! =P Haha, I'd be watching the movie and then all of the sudden *BANG* it's the apocalypse, that'd be ironic...
Ya but that was about computers because they weren't sure computers would got from 1 to 2 in 1999 to 2000. lol ;/ wasn't programmed that way or something..hahahha the mayan thing is like from hundreds.. hundred of years ago, maybe millenias, I don't know lol, so big deal in its symbolic significance - 2 months ago
