How do you get past the level Candidate on wii?

I don't know where else to go to ask this question. I am playing Bully: Scholarship Edition for Nintendo wii. I am stuck on the level called "The candidate." I am stuck on the part where he is giving his speech and people start throwing stuff at him and I have to throw stuff at those people with the slingshot thing. Well I can't figure out how to move the slingshot to throw it on those certain people. It just stays in one spot. Help!.
