Despite some negative responses from others, I think these kinds of questions are quite common. Some people think that religious folk are naive, or can't handle the brutal "real world" and death. But honestly, creationism makes MUCH more sense to me than a whole lot of other theories floating around.
Obviously, if you don't believe in God,it will be hard to try and discuss the Bible and its events. It's something that needs to be personal to you. But religious or not, we all have moments of questioning. Our minds simply can't fathom things we cannot see, or don't understand. I know my head starts to spin when I think about "when" God began, when the world will end, the dinosaurs, etc etc.
But as long as I seek the truth, I know I'll never feel lost.
dinasosaurs first of all came before the bible you idiot. secondly, no one invented god he was always there...wait. why am I answering this? it's obvious you're just ignorant and don't have anything better to do than insult someone's religion. grow up.
leprechauns, santa clause, the tooth fairy, the easter bunny, the boogie man, and unicorns. they held a meeting one day and together they made up god. I'm almost 100% positive that's what happened ;]
Well for all of you who don't believe in God I pray that you find him because you will be going to hell if you get that tru connection and relationship. You laugh and joke Ha ha but its not a joke or game...
I contend that you're an atheist too. I just believe in one god less than you do. When you'll understand why you don't believe in all the other gods people were told about (Zeus, Baal, Quetzalcoatl, Jupiter, Allah etc, the list is endless), you'll understand why I don't believe in your god. - A month ago
Umm Because NO ONE invented him...And its ok if you don't believe in him do what you want but it would probably be best if you kept it to yourself but then again do what you want...:(
You don't have to keep it to yourself but asking double-edged sword questions just makes you look like a jackass, not like someone who truly wants to have a decent conversation on the matter. Religious freedom certainly means freedom FROM religion just as much as it means freedom OF religion and, as another American, I respect your right to it.
But don't think you're more intelligent because you've decided to not believe in anything you can't see. That's ignorance, in my opinion. - A month ago
They are. The word dinosaur wasn't invented until the 1800s. People used to call them dragons. The bible speaks of the "Chief" of God's creations and he was describing a dinosaur. Bronc I believe.
The bible said "animals were created" Never said all the types nor use the word we made up in it either. All the names of the animals we know now were made up by people. The bible was written by the Holy Spirit. read the beginning and yes Adam and Eve were hear before all.
You must not know much about religion if you think God "invented" the devil. That makes your views rather irrelevant since you don't even know the subject matter.
Then where does the Devill come from: Either your god created everything and thus the devill too OR Someone else created the Devill: WHO did it then? OR There's no Devill either. - A month ago
Answerer
Honestly, I don't care who created the devil. I never said these were my beliefs. But in the biblical sense, Satan was a fallen angel, not some bad guy that God "invented" to make Him look good. - A month ago
He is an idea though, just like the Easter bunny is. It's something we've thought of, real of not. - 2 months ago
Answerer
We didn't invent the idea, that would mean he isn't real. We didn't think of him, that means we invented him, which means he isn't real. - 2 months ago
I don't really give downies on questions like these, so nope. Why can't we agree? :( lol - 2 months ago
Answerer
But you didn't give me an uppy either :( I'm disappointed bunny. we can't agree because you are too controversial. and you're a non-believer :( boo you. - 2 months ago
Yall sound funny but anyways, Bunny, think of God in this way....You believe we breath in oxygen right? to keep us alive but you never seen it. There are a lot of things you don't see that you believe is there for a reason or just don't see that you choose not to believe, which in your case is God. He is smarter than us to know that we are fixiated on looks especially skin color. if God allowed us to see him, can you imagine how much he would get judged for his appearance? to love him for who - 2 months ago
There is proof for air... how have you been angel? ;P - 2 months ago

God should be taken seriously!! It's really disrespectful not to take Him seriously. It's disrespectful to God and to the believers. You're disrespecting me Bunny. : - A month ago
Errr, no. You use God as someone to keep you safe an hopefully give you presents, that's why you believe in him. lol - A month ago

No! I believe in God because he is real. Don't try to belittle my belief in Him. You can't resist Him either-you always have a strong opinion when it comes down to q's on here about God. And JD too while where at it, you both cannot resist the God q's. I think you're both closet believers. - A month ago

Anything to keep the convo going lol, you're going to have to end it at some point. We've now got to 61 comments. Just let me have the last word then that's that. - A month ago
Either God exists, or He doesn't. In the event that the entire thing is made up, it was made up in the past, so unless you hop in a time machine and hunt down whoever started religion, they can't own up to it. Is that not obvious? It's not like theology just dropped down on us recently.
Since ther is no God in your mind, please explain to me this:
1) How was the universe created?
2) What else do we know has been PROVEN to create itself from complete scratch in this universe? Why are we willing to believe that the universe made itself out of nothing but if I said this computer I'm typing on came from a "big bang" of nothing, that is foolishness?
We have absolutely no proof of a god. Scientists would be willing to accept an almighty creative force if he/she/it would make itself known. All of the questions that cannot be answered, we pin them to a God. - A month ago
Deeplove 55:" Exactly. things don't just appear from nothing. everything that exist was made by something or someone and so on that goes. - 21 days ago" Thus you admit that IF god exists, he didn't appear from nothing but was made by something or someone. Who did it then? (Why worry about it?) - A month ago

Huh? Who invented GOD? he invented us and as far as who created him, I've always wondered what created that and so on and so forth. Its deep thinking but beats me.
Whatever God is made of, he is transcendant of matter, time, and space because those are the things are universe is made up of. It's a lot harder to explain an entity that isn't created by things we know. There are so many layers of the universe that we can't even see, so only ignorant people will deny the, at least, possibility that there is a God.
Not to mention, how did the universe create itself? That's a much taller tale than a God creating the universe. - 2 months ago
Exactly. Maybe bereaver should really think what he wants to say through or at least give some arguments for us to bounce thoughts off next time. Just saying "Who made up God?" is not even worth replying to but I just can't help myself. - 2 months ago
God was invented for two reasons: 1. All people had lots of questions about what was happening around them in nature and nobody had a good answer to their questions about "Why and How?" God is an easy answer, THE easy answer.
2. Some people had (good or bad) ideas about what should happen in society. If they went to their fellow people telling their ideas, nobody would listen. BUT If the went away for a day and came back, telling with great conviction "A God send me to you with the mission to say you that HE wants you to this and avoid that Or you'll all be hit by lightning, stricken by the plague and burn in Hell, but if you do as He told me you'll not really die but go to Paradise and get a reward in Heaven, after your dead". (wings and happiness and 40 virgins in a magnificent garden!)
THEN the people, who were afraid of thunderstorms plagues etc would listen to him and pay some attention.
Moreover, since the reward would only be given after dead, they would obey without demanding their reward.
Sometimes these men had really good ideas, other times they just wanted power and riches for themselves.
That's why Humanity got (and sometimes benefited from) religions and priests
When did this happen? Probably when Humans began flocking together, living together in herds, using a kind of spoken language to communicate, some (long?) time before the Stone Age maybe.
1: Let's evaluate what the Lord himself stated as commandment number one to Moses ontop of that mountain, which may I remind you if you break you will be doomed to hell for all eternity;
"1.You shall have no other gods before me" - So, this all loving God, the creator of life and master of the elements is willing to send his own creation, me and you, to hell for not believing he is there? If you ask me I don't know why such a great guy why is he effectivly saying "Worship me, or I'm going to make you burn in the depth of hell". Yeah, I'm starting to like this dude already...
2: Slavery, it was abolished by man for the own good of mankind itself, agreed? If God is an all knowing man surely he would have stepped in and said "Hey, listen, slavery is not a good thing - you should abolish it now or else..." but instead he let us abuse other human's, yeah he let his son's abuse there own brothers and sisters.
Well I guess a christian trying to rationalize this could say, "God gave human's there own mind's and we will make our own mistakes, therefore you can't make that statement" - I agree with this point, but if you've read the Old Testiment and New Testiment you'll see the Bible is rampant with slavery and mistreating of other human being's (them very human being's being God's kid's)
Here is a passage from the bible I find very interesting;
"However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way." - Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT.
When I wonder if I could get anymore shocking coming from, effectivly, the diary of God I see the following passage;
"If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever." - Exodus 21:2-6 NLT.
If you read the bible you will see it is rife with torture, slavery, abuse, sexism and even rape.
Ask yourself why such a great man would do this? Then ask yourself if he's real.
Let me add, because I was out of characters to type anymore, that all you will get from these brainwashed bible basher is either "Tell me thy Lord is not thy shiny thee rain of light upon to me" in other words "Prove he dosn't" because they cannot find a rational answer. We can't prove he does exist but at least we can expose all these flaws in the old testiment, hell, even the new testiment which was made to correct all the old testiments mistakes is flawed. - Prove he does exist. - A month ago
he owned you before you were even born prove to me he doesn't exist..if you say you don't belive in him because you can't see him I can prove why you can see him... im not going to convert you I'm just going to prove you wrong
That's to do with psychology and misconception... Logically however there are many things that can not be proven that also contradict each other, each as good as the last, logically, why is God any better than the rest. The only argument you have is that many people believe, that isn't good enough I'm afraid, many people believed the world was flat "without even knowing"... - 2 months ago
Answerer
I would love to argue..but don't want to waste my time but yea whatever you say, I got nothing against you... - 2 months ago
Nobody invented god. It's like it's been put, he either exists, or he doesn't. Personally, I DO believe he exists. What do you expect to get out of this question?
@ Question Asker: Why post such a stupid provocative question. You're only winding people up. So you don't believe in god, that's cool, neither do I, but you should have some respect for others who do.
What are you trying to do? Prove there isn't a god by showing everyone that there's no way God would be stupid enough to ever put something as pathetic as you on this planet?
There is no sole person who came up with "God". Many people from many different cultures have tried to understand the world using assumptions and guess work instead of science and logic. There are some positives to this, but I believe most if not all are hollow and in the long run destructive if believed fanatically.
Basically you're question is a loaded one which I believe is incorrect...
Oh this is good. So tell me then, Mr. Atheist, just then who created the universe? Surely it was the Big Bang theory? Or perhaps we really are descended from apes. Whichever the case, the universe is set up quite perfectly for there to be sustained life on Earth. A perfect equation that surely must have been created by an entity. If I'm wrong, then at least state your own case. That is after all what you atheist like to do isn't it? Debate?
Saying the Universe is set-up quite perfectly to sustain life on Earth doesn't make sense, that's like having 1000^1000^ shots at a basketball hoop, and when it finally goes in, saying that it was a perfect shot and by no means luck. That and the rest of the universe having so little relation to earth just makes your statement even harder to comprehend. And why the 'Or' between the BBT and us decending from apes? Those are corresponding theories. - 2 months ago
What he is saying, kommer, is that existence doesn't just happen on its own. the universe, the earth and humans along with everything else seen had to have been made by something or someone. And when he said Apes, he was talking about how science is trying to say we all may have descended from them like our existence is evolution and not a creation by God. Think about it, hon. Everything you see here on earth that we use is man-made like the computer you are on now, buildings and stuff. - 2 months ago
Those things don't just appear from nothing. everything that exist was made by something or someone and so on that goes. have you ever made anything or created something? It would never be if you never created it. - 2 months ago
The "something has to create something else arguement" is so flawed and shallow-minded. There's nothing to suggest that the universe hasn't had infinate existance. Our current 'state' of existance is a result of evolution, I seriously hope you/him aren't trying to argue against that, there's just so much evidence to support it and none to support otherwise that any respecable human being takes it as truth. Don't get me wrong though, I think religion is an extemely good thing, it gives... - 2 months ago
...excellent guidance on morals, and is a great catalyst for bringing people together. The only gripe I have with it, is people not believing in the scientific theories which have been proven with such rigid evidence, and thier only arguement being "because God made that". Be religious by all means, but don't go disagreeing with proven facts simply because your holy book says otherwise. (Excuse the spelling errors in my above post). - 2 months ago
Answerer
Name your "proven" facts Kommer, and then will talk. After all, you said it yourself, they are merely theories. But if you so happen to have facts, by all means talk about them, don't be subtle. - 2 months ago
Science is apart of life and God created all that is. yes, evolution makes sense especially with bugs and such and animals overtime due to our enviroent changing but why does that mean there wasn't something that created all that exist? Things don't just appear, hon. God is real. - 2 months ago
Who created Atheists and why won't they own up? That's the real question here. Or are you going to cop out and say you're agnostic like all the others.
I'm Atheist and I'm owning up to it right now. I've no problem with others having their beliefs, and I think religion teaches a lot of good morals and it's good that it helps people throughout their life. However I think that taking the theory that there is a "god" as truth just because that's what you're taught from a young age is the epitome of naivety. - 2 months ago
Everyone once believed in God...? ;P - 2 months ago
Answerer
I'm cool with that Kommer. I believe in god, but I'm not going to bash people who think outside the box and try and find reason in other things. I just hate atheists who make it their life mission to torment believers. ... then they say they are agnostic and not fully commit ... just in case. - 2 months ago
Exactly @ Answerer. Kommer, I agree with most you say but there are many things people believe in childhood that they grow out of believing in adult hood. Not to mention all the adults who start out atheists and then become believers. People in all stage of life convert one way or the other.
It is not simply us wanting to believe a "fairy tale". You want to know a real fairy tale? The universe creating itself. Life creating itself. Those are fairy tales. - 2 months ago
Kommer, how dare you say we are naive for believing God? You believe in nothing. Your saying we are wrong and you are right when you know good well that all that exist had to have been created by something. - 2 months ago
I said that believing in god *because* that's what you were taught as a child is naive. Assessing what you know, and looking at it from both sides, then deciding that you think there's a god is perfectly fine.
@Versusxiii, claiming the BBT is flawed solely because it suggests something that is beyond most human's comprehension (there are a lot of scientific theories that are) does not invalidate it in any way. Unless you fully understand the evidence, you can't really make an honest judgement - 2 months ago
Naive is like saying we are believening something we really don't know is true base off of what we were taught growing up. But okay, I respect your opinion, hon. I just think its good to believe in something good so you can have some direction in life, so you can have hope. - 2 months ago
